| Name: Daryl Gall, Vocals in Nothingstar. Age: 21 Location: Stratford, CT how long has nothingstar been around? Formed July 12th 2002, so about 9 months now. how did you all meet? ive known chris 2 since way back from my first band Headstrong, he was the lead guitarist, i was like 15, 16. Chris 1 was in the second project i got into, Stutter, i met him online and have known him for about roughly 3 years now. Jim was always at Headstrong shows, saw him around and talked to him a few times but nothing major until someone introduced me to him like last year and we got a friendship going. Ryan was the only one i never knew or knew of. We got him through a friend at the time. where is your favorite place to play? The PAL in MA is a great place for shows. I love the set up there and the hall itself is a good size. the kids that come out are just so about local shows and having a good time. Whats the most interesting thing youve seen, playing in a differnt state or city? The way people drive in NY. it blows my mind how these people arent just randomly picked off by other drivers for being idiots. Besides that, We havent played enough out of state venues to have something real interesting or weird or crazy go down yet, but when we do, you will know. Where did you get the name "NothingStar" Nothingstar basically backs up the statement that a star is just an image, believe in yourself at all times. Dont put ur faith into something because someone else told you some good will come of it. Think for urself, allow urself to find ur own star, ur own ideas and concepts before settling for someone elses. Who where your influnces gorwing up? wow..growing up eh? alright.. heres the list..laugh if you will.. Genesis, u2, REM, black sabbath, korn, the cranberries, limp bizkit, arrowsmith, silverchair, and others.. i def cant repeat...but thats just a gist of some of the shit i listened to from ages like 11, 12, and up.. Who are your influnces now? bjork, every time i die, finger 11, deftones, snot (rip lynn), converge, from autumn to ashes, norma jean, tori amos, glassjaw, thursday, at the drive in, refused, primus, stp, Did you know, when you where younger you wanted to be in a band? i always wanted to perform..i liked having people watch... i always sang..i used to be in my church choir.. id act too, do puppet shows.. i liked being a crazy outgoing kid.. and music hits me soo hard and the idea of having a band just felt so right.. started back in like 7th grade for myself.. How would you describe your musical style? we try to combine hardcore with melody, hard rock and just pure energy and emotion...i hate labels..everything seems to need to fit somewhere now a days for genres..but we try to pick and choose from our influenes to create our own sound. What do you think of your local scene? our scene is struggling.. we got some great bands here wanting to do more and more but the lack of venues is really draining us all and the kds that come out to shows.. we really want to get out of CT and see what we can do elsewhere.. its not like we want to turn our backs on the scene here, but we want to grow and make something with our music and it aint happening here sadly..the friends and fans we got here mean the world to us and we wont forget about them.. and they can def count on that.. if they keep in touch with us, we def will be right back in tough with them.. Do you have any advice for kids who want to start bands, but are afraid to? you should never be afraid to.. just give it a go.. if u got the passion and the patience, anything can happen..music is such a great outlet and release.. it starts out being something you and some buds start doing for fun after skool..jamming, chillin, watching porn after..ordering pizza, then it grows into just more jamming and porn...but if u guys are real and serious about it.. and take on all the shit you got to do to get you to grow more and known.. then have a ball with it..i havent stopped...since 7th grade.. different bands...if something happens to us, which i hope wont, id still keep going...i got too much love and passion in this to quit and if you do too, then fucking take it all the way. Any last words? Just because girls might be a big issue in ur life, dont wrote every song about them. oh, and peanut butter and jellys taste better after sex, no need for ciggs...and always remember.. girls poop.. its gross but true.. i just found this out about 2 years ago.. never thought they did..they are just to pretty to go through what we do when we have to poop..can u print that?? i hope so. hehehe...and to end this on a serious note quoting the man bob marley..
