history books.

i picked up this book under the "free books" sign in my school library/media center.

THE CONCEPT OF IDEOLOGY and OTHER ESSAYS by GEORGE LICHTHEIM
random house Copyright 1967. Catalog Card Number 67-14472.

i picked it up because i was tricked into believing there is something magical in antique, black-binded political book shit.
i picked it up because it was free.
i picked it up because maybe, just maybe, i'd look a little more "intellectual" than my peers.

references are made (but not limited to) the concept (of course), society and Hierarchy, Oriental Despotism, the Politics of Conservative Realism and "An Intellectual Disaster."

go fucking figure.

i skipped to the fourth or fifth page and thought to myself,

"hey, i guess i need some knowledge about some of this before i hear some old jewish professor babble on endlessly about it."

so i put the book down. i put it in my bag. i put it in my room.

i can't remember how the moral goes. something about me being uninterested in politics and political ideas. so i close the book. history books only make you halfway smart.
