This is one of my favorite pieces I've done. I made it my junior year of High School and I won a first place in an art show with it. My peers commented on how light the lion was in contrast with the background and insisted I darken him more. I showed this one to the lady in charge of the illustration department at Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida and she loved it. She told me she felt that the lighter lion and darker background actually draws more attention to the lion and makes the work more original. Needless to say, that made me grin. |
