A quick history of the band.
Ron - Perkele started 1993 and back in these days the sound was a
little bit different, more fast melodic typical Swedish punk sung in Swedish.
Perkele was mostly influenced by the swedish punk scene in the beginning.
After a while we got infected by the Oi! and streetpunk music, much because
we was a punk and skin mixed band, always hanging out with skins and listen
to this kind of music. Mostly 4 skins, Last resort, Blitz, Cock Sparrer and
this kind of bands. 1997 we changed the line up and Chris joined Perkele
And Perkele became this magical trio, he he We released our first album 1998 (Frn flykt till kamp), this was our way from Swedish punk to Streetpunk, we mixed the styles because it
should not shock people to much with our change and the sound became great. After a while we decided to try singing in English, it felt good and then we we changed more and more into an Oi! band and this is what Perkele are today.
How would you describe your music?
Ron - Very emotional, straight in your face, straight from our hearts,
Honest Oi! with alot of hate, anger, love and pride.
What are your influences?
Ron - I would say Iron Maiden, Templars, Cock Sparrer, Frankie Flame,
Combat 84, Boot Party, Motrhead, The Who, Rolling Stones, Finnish folmusic,
Swedish Folkmusic, Finnish Tango, Ac/Dc, Danzig, Deep Purple and alots of other bands.
Which football team do you support?
Ron - We have not so much time for fotball but Chris seemes to like all
fotball, and i mostly like to watch Brittish fotball and off course Swedish, mostly our
national team.
Your plans for the future (gigs, new album)?
Ron - Alot of gigs in -07 and some smaller tours, we are writing songs
For future releases, and the songs we have until now is very powerful
and sound typical Perkele but much better, he he It will be great to enter the studio again.
What do you think of politics (right-wing or left-wing) ?
Ron - Should not be mixed with music and yes we are all
interested in what is happening in our country and our world.
Extremists are shit, no matter what side they are from,
specially nazis, you must be fucking retarded to
have opinions like them.
What do you think of the scene today?
Ron - In some parts of the world it's great! But in some really shitty, like in Sweden, all skins are like 15 years old and so much skinhead that they almost forgets their own names and after a year they are all psychos or Casuals, would need some real spanking. Ok, we have some old great bastards tohere in Gteborg (My friends) Gbg Skins where i belong, we party together, make some gigs together and hang out, great people. But over all i think the scene are getting better and better and i hope we will see more of the new great bands on the gig posters for big festivals instead of those old restarted bands that people have seen 1000 times already.
Any last words?
Thanks for this interview, also many thanks to all the people
who is supporting Perkele and we really hope to come back to Greece
soon again!
All the best/Ron and Perkele |
