| A quick history of the band.
Formed in 1995 as an excuse to get pissed for free, get out of the house and make a huge racket, nearly 12 years later 4 drummers, 3 bassists, 2 guitarist but only 1 singer later weve evolved into a tight power house of hardcore streetpunk rock. In those years weve toured with some of the best, and worst bands on the scene, been on more compilations and seen more bands and musical fashions come and go than weve had hot dinners. 2006 saw us win Punk Idol 2006 which earned us the opening slot at the last Wasted Festival, where we played to a crowd of over 1,000 manic punks and skins. The current line up is Beaker- Vocals, Fat Paul Enema- Guitar, Papa Luigi- Bass and Gazza- Drums How would you describe your music? Slapshot meet Motorhead or an Oi version of Bad Religion would be somewhere close I reckon What are your influences? Motorhead, AC/DC, Cock Sparrer, Antiseen, Clutch, Ramones, Black Flag and loads more basically anything fast and loud. Which football team do you support? Beaker and Fat Paul support Leeds United, although Beaker is more of a rugby league fan and hes solidly Baradford Bulls, Papa Luigi is a Man United fan (we let him off with this as he is originally from Manchester, Gazza supports Sedgefield-a non league side in Tony Blairs home town Your plans for the future (gigs, new album)? Hopefully 2007 will see us release not 1 but 2 new albums, the first is going to be a very limited edition of covers, each band member has chosen 3 songs to destroy in our own fashion, the 2nd is gonna have 13 songs 12 of which are less than a minute long with the last being the longest thing weve ever done, were still not sure about this but it seemed like a good idea at the time. We plan to play as many gigs as possible next year and have gigs booked for next year but always want more, it would be good to play Blackpool again (Rebellion 2007) but well have to wait and see about that What do you think of politics (right-wing or left-wing) ? None of the band have much interest in politics and we dont sing political songs, its too easy to sit on one side of a fence but at the end of the day there is very little difference between the left and the right so we choose not to get involved. What do you think of the scene today? Depends on where you are but it does seem to be on the increase, in West Yorkshire where we all live Leeds has some good gigs on but the scene is a bit non existent with the fans only coming out for the bigger gigs, elsewhere in the country there are some great scenes and in the north east you can always guarantee a decent turnout. Any last words? Come to our gigs, watch us play and buy our stuff, its because of this we can keep putting out records etc as we are fully d.i.y and release everything ourselves. You can find out more about us on www.lowlifeuk.co.uk or www.myspace.com/lowlifeuk Get in touch if you want to book us for gigs by emailing [email protected] we probably charge less than you think, unlike some bands who we wont mention Cheers for the interview and keep up the good work.Oi Oi- Fat Paul Enema Lowlife UK |
