Untitled Romance Story 1
She sat in her private garden, her legs curled underneath her and her hand lying lifeless in her lap. Her eyes were staring into the red roses in front of her but her mind was elsewhere.
Her mind was focused on her best friend, who happened to be sitting a few feet away from her. They have known each other for months. It was only recently that she realized that she loved him... Really loved him.
She glanced over at him. His eyes were on the roses and he looked happy and smiling.
Oh, Goddess how it hurts. She broke up with her boyfriend the day before, and she was going to tell him how she felt. However, her heart was ripped apart when he told her about Christine.
Christine... the girl who appeared out of nowhere. Christine... the girl who kissed him and stole his heart.
She shook her head. She couldn't tell him now. Not when he seemed so happy.
He turned his head towards her. She saw his face fall before she turned away.
"What's wrong?"
She jumped. He had moved to sit beside her.
"Nothing"
Even though her eyes were back on the roses, she knew he was unconvinced.
Oh, Goddess, how my heart aches. He has always cared for me, always been there for me.
She closed her eyes as these thoughts ran through her head. She felt like throwing her arms around him and telling him everything. But she couldn't.
"Please tell me what's wrong."
Her eyes fell to her hands, where they started fidgeting nervously. She was loosing her self-control.
"You've been like this all day." He kept his gaze on her. "I don't like seeing you like this."
That did it. She looked at him, all the light and happiness that was there moments before, were now gone from his eyes, and all for her. She felt the rest of her control shatter.
"I like you, okay?" She gasped. It came out more forcefully than she intended. Before she could see his reaction, she got up and ran from the garden. Once outside she fell against the garden wall and slid slowly to the ground. Her tears streamed down her cheeks and she cursed herself silently for loosing control.
She heard someone coming down the garden path and she flattened herself against the wall behind her.
It was him...
He looked at her but she couldn't raise her eyes to see how. He knelt in front of her and her head dropped to avoid his eyes.
She flinched when she felt his hand on her cheek. He gently wiped away her tears and she finally raised her eyes to look into his.
What she saw surprised her. In his eyes, he looked relieved and happy.
His hand fell to the back of her neck as he searched her face. Then abruptly he pulled her forward and kissed her.
Her eyes widened as he kissed her but the shock passed quickly as she closed her eyes and slipped her arms around his neck.
His kiss filled her with a feeling she couldn't describe. It was the best feeling in the world.
Gently he pulled back and she looked at him. He smiled and said the four words that changed both of their lives. He said: "I love you too"
