Backyard Critters 8_00

Deer during the daytime.
8/11/00, ~ 8 AM, huge herd, too many to count. Tried to grab the camera silently and snap photos. Only 2 turned out and by the time I got the first one, some deer had left. So I can only verify 8.

2 fawns remained for 30 min or more, then returned 3 hours later for a little while longer. Guess they know where the food is now.

Platform feeder:

Rose breasted grosbeak on top, mallard drake in front.

Three of the best photos we've taken with our new spotting scope adapters and our old camera.

Flying Squirrel- nocturnal, lived here until (we think) it was ousted by a pair of starlings. Got this shot by day (they're nocturnal) because a red-bellied woodpecker dared look in the hole! So cute!

Common flicker- we get them now and again.

Rose-breasted grosbeak! Sighted on several occassions, spring and early summer mostly.
