School Budget Defeated!
The community yesterday overwhelming defeated the proposed budget of well over 83 million for the 2005-2006 school year. Residents were complaining that there was inadequate appropriation of monies and that the current budget was nbot acceptable. The major watch dog group, "Fincially Responsible Ossining Citizens Association" or FROCA had made a major impact on the results. This group heavily criticized the current budget. The district now must make some major cuts in order to present the budget for a second and final vote in one month. If the budget fails again, then there will be a mandated bduget imposed by the state which will reflect a budget for 2005-2006 that will be similar to that of 2004-2005.
