Cathy is the Mom of Mary Grace Perstein. Mary Grace is a Senior and plays the oboe. Last year she was selected to participate in both the University of West Georgiia and University of Georgia Honor Band. The main function of this committee is to ensure that the equipment truck is available to haul instruments and props to Red Regiment functions. The bulk of these are the away football games, but the various competitions and exhibitions that the Red Regiment participates also need to be included. Cathy is working now on setting up an arrangment with a local Ryder Truck firm to handle the rentals for the Red Regiment this year. She will pick up the truck and return the truck filled with gas, but she needs people who are willing to drive the truck to these functions. Please contact Cathy if you are willing to drive the truck. The specific dates of the events when the truck is needed will be added as they become known.
In addition, there are times when groups like the jazz band, or specific instrument choirs represent themselves and the school at various performances around the city. The equipment truck in this case is often a van or pick-up truck to haul the equipment. Again, please let Cathy know now of your willingness so that she can call on you when these needs arise.
One more important thing. The rental of the equipment truck costs the organization over $1500.00 each year. If you know of a used truck that can be purchased or donated, please contact Cathy, any Booster officer, or Dr. Poor. This truck needs to have a lift of the back of the truck to help load the equipment, and because of county regulations really needs to be a 1997 or younger vehicle. This is because once the truck is purchased, it becomes the property of Cobb County Schools and they maintain the vehicle for us. |
