Dr. Poor,

I just wanted to express my admiration to you and your students after your fine performance at Saturday’s marching band competition at Kennesaw Mountain High School. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the band’s performance, and personally enjoyed watching it. The show’s overall conception and execution were particularly impressive.

Having known firsthand through my association with you and your students the past few years, it was such a joy to see the new level of performance that your students have achieved. The improvements of the marching band from last year’s level to its current level are staggering. Most impressive is the obvious intensity with which your students perform; this is a level of intensity I had not seen at Osborne since I became acquainted with the program three years ago.

The maturity of the band is evident from its fine performance on Saturday. Particularly, the performance of the music was at a highly mature level. From the various solos to the sometimes highly technical passages, it was obvious that the band was well prepared and ready for the performance. As we always tell our students, performance is all about preparation, and the preparation of your students for this performance illustrated their maturity.

In closing, I want to wish you and your students well, and again congratulate you on a job well done. I wish you the best of luck throughout the marching season as well as the concert season that follows. Given your current level of performance, I am confident that both seasons will be great successes.

Sincerely,

Joshua Thompson
