The Last Stop

The year was '69:
Berkeley and San Francisco continued to be the haven of the hippies. Protests were held across the nation against the Vietnam war...still.  The Beatles began their unfortunate breakup.  The People's Park Riot--the people try to take the park back from the police, and get greeted with rifles and teargas.  Over 500,000 march in DC for peace.  More raids on the Black Panthers are held.  And there was this little event called Woodstock...but, Charlie Manson and the Family murders give the hippies a bad rep.

The toning down period, '70-'73:
Well, the glorious 60's are over, Janis Joplin dies, Jimi Hendrix dies, Jim Morrison dies, the war slows down, Tricky Dick resigns, and the hidious Kent State massacre occurs.

Though the 60's are over, the hippies still live.  And the time will come when we will need create history once again.

This was not an in depth history, for more information, search some of the names and topics I threw at you.  I hope it helps.

If you were looking for information about being a hippie, go back home and check the psychedelic stuff page.
