How I Feel About Being a Writer
Writing seems to be something that people either love or hate. However, it does not matter whether you are a skilled writer or not. Writing is a way for people to express emotions, share experiences, etc. Expository Writing is a course where people learn to improve and expand your skills in order to communicate ideas more successfully.
I enjoy writing. I feel that it is a great way to express how I feel or what I am thinking. I often write in my free time. Depending on how I feel, I write formally or informally. I write journal entries, letters, and free write as well. Although I love writing, I do not view myself to be a good writer. However, I do not feel that one can judge how good a writer is solely on grades or a single person��s opinion. I think that when one writes with his or her heart, the reader can see it within a piece.
I have many strengths and weaknesses in writing. One of strengths is getting to the point. I feel that this is a strength because many times when one rambles on, the text can become needlessly lengthy and boring for the reader. This strength was seen in my best work, which was a personal narrative that I wrote for mythology. I kept my ideas concise and I used a seemingly unimportant childhood experience to prove that truths of a person��s life can be seen through experiences no matter how big or small. My most difficult work was this homework assignment. At first it was hard for me to get into the right mindset for this essay. Although I dive into my work, I have trouble tying all my thoughts together. I also have a problem with my vocabulary, it being too limited. Even though I have more weaknesses than strengths, I am working on overcoming them.
Expository Writing is an interesting course because its main focus is writing and not on literature. I chose this course because I heard that it helps students to improve their writing skills. I wish to become a better writer so that I will be able to convey my ideas more clearly to others. I hope that through this class, my weaknesses will not have to be weaknesses any longer. With hard work and dedication, I hope that these weaknesses will be offset.
