Post-Course Reflection
The school year is now over with only finals and regents left. The 5 months of expository writing were filled with much work, but also a lot of learning. Although the time spent in the class was short-lived, writing techniques and methods will not be easily forgotten.
In this class Ive learned to write much better. I learned how to write using many details and being descriptive with my words. I learned how to communicate what I am trying to convey more effectively and also how to organize my thoughts and ideas into words, sentences, paragraphs, and essays. The time that I have spent in this class has been very productive and I enjoyed learning how to be a better writer and write in different styles and on different topics.
Although the work from class seemed overwhelming to me at times, looking back now I feel that the work was worth it because I learned a lot from it. Even preparing for the regents was very helpful, especially the little packet where we needed to fill out information about at least 2 pieces of literature. Since we wrote 3 practice essays and practiced the listening and reading portions of the regents, I feel a lot more secure about taking the test.
This year was filled with many class and tons of work. Even though I took many classes, not all seemed to be worth it. However, this really was one of the classes that I felt was a good choice in taking. I learned a lot and had fun. I especially enjoyed watching Super Size Me. (hint hint) I know that I will continue to use what Ive learned in this class in my future writing.
