NEW IN 2000!!

Thanks to Don Cherry's suggestion, we are excited to introduce weekly team play to our program. This will be a voluntary "tournament within the tournament". Here are the basics: $2 entry fee. Participating players will be separated into 2 groups (high and low stroke averages) and teamed up randomly with a player in the other group. Total team score will be tracked throughout the tournament with the winning team taking the pot. This gives all players an additional prize to compete for even if they are not at the top of the pack individually. The Virginia PPA Tour has also used this additional format for many years with great results.

OTHER NOTES

The $2.00 "afterplay" fee will be waived for the 2000 season. Any tournament entrant upon paying their entry fee is entitled to play or practice until closing after the tournament at no additional fee.

The Putt-Putt League will be improved once again this year. First of all, it will start and end earlier in the season. Second, we will return this year to each player getting to match up once against everyone, with the top 8 records then making the playoffs. This combining of past formats should make for a great League season!

I wasn't going to make a big announcement about this next item, but since 3 different people requested it, I will defer to their wishes. I (Joe Gallagher) am pleased to be back living full-time in Pittsburgh and am honored to resume my duties as Tournament Director. I hope to serve you all with enthusiasm, integrity, and wisdom.

FROM THE COMMITTEE

Lastly, as you all know, the future success of our program relies on our ability to attract new players, help them develop their skills, and create an environment in which they want to participate and grow long term. The environment part is up to all of us. If we want to attract friendly, enthusiastic people with character, maturity, self-control, sportsmanship, and professionalism, we must exhibit those same qualities. This will create a positive, growing program in which to compete. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining this type of environment, because you deserve nothing less.

See you all March 5th!!

Al Linhart, Cindy Linhart, Ken Hastings, Don Cherry, & Joe Gallagher
