| Where i started in this conversion was to remove the front headlights grill and then the two indecators which were on the wing's. I then proced'ed to weld in two pieces where the indecatior's were,this been done the next step was to fit new bmw headlights,where the original lights were had to be cut to make room for new one's,Shapeing the wing's to take bmw grill was diffacult because original lights been rectuangler,bmw light's are round twin.(see photos) Wiring up new lights needed a relay switch because the were two bulb's before now there been four(two highbeem and two dip's). Next i started on the front bumper which is from an escort xr3. To make the bumper fit,first i had to shorten the front of the car by 1inch"(25mm)and cut middle top of bumper so as the bmw grill would fit snugelly,then had to cut out for indecators which are now going on the bumper instead of the wing,these indacoters are from a nissan micra k10.also there had to be new parking lights wired and fitted on the bumper. I then took the line to the sides and again proceded to fit the side skirts and arches,these are from an escort RSturbo,front arches and side skirts were relativelly easy,but the rear arches had to be remoudled because the kit was made for a three door car this car is a four door(see photos). New front door also fitted I then folowed around to the rear to work my way back to the front and fitted rear bumper and boot spoiler again from an escort xr3,these went on fairely easy and were a good fit,again around to the other side and proceded to fit skirts and arches. |
