| Passion's Point A Message from Paige Passion Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2007 I hope this finds everyone in great spirits and staying warm as winter is now upon us. Funny how Ohio works, weather changes at any given moment but when it snows it sticks with us. Plug in the electric blanket's, make some hot coco, and sit in front of the tv and watch your favorite programs on LOGO! I have been so super busy over the past weeks, with so many different things. Work of course, shows, our horses, and traveling. I apologize for not having the Pride of Ohio Newsletter updated sooner. I hope you understand. This article will serve as the Jan and Feb edition of the Newsletter. I had the wonderful oppurtunity to travel to Toledo, Ohio and be involved with the Miss Toledo Gay Pride pageant. It was so wonderful to see former Miss Toledo Gay Pride, Hershae Chcolatae, Sylvia Austin of course, and the other gal's up there. Although there was only one contestant, we had such a great time, and gave a great show! It was wonderful meeting Joe the promoter for Miss Toledo Gay Pride, what a sweetheart he is!! Definate SHOUT OUT to Larry the bartender who always takes such good care of me when I am in Toledo. A Special thanks to Lita Mannon, Big N Tasty, and Tom for weathering the snow with me and traveling to Toledo!! Congratulations are in definate order for Miss Deja Delatero the newly crowned Miss Toledo Gay Pride! I look forward to seeing her at Miss Ohio Gay Pride in November 2007! As the days roll by and the nights and morning's seem to come quickly and time is just spinning by. In this spot last year I was sitting figuring out what I was going to put together in my package for Miss Ohio Gay Pride. I was laying down at night and waking up in the morning constantly thinking about when I will be crowned Miss Ohio Gay Pride. And now I sit here typing my second entry in the Pride Of Ohio Newsletter as Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2007. I have been so blessed in my life to be able to have achieved the things that I have in my career and the people around me. Maybe because it's almost Valentine's Day or what but...this brings me to my "Passion's Point" Too often we go by in life just not being grateful for the people that are in it. In our community there are so many people that want to show negativity and that want to focus on the "grease" of a situation. Now I am not any different than anyone else, and I love the moments when I belly up to the phone with a sister and dish the tea. But a positive thing comes out of getting something off of your chest. Being relieved to confide in a friend or share an opinion. However, in our community for who we are and what we stand for, there has to be a better way for us to make the world better. I don't mean by just making it pretty which we do very well. I mean more like the Heart side of life, to realize to tell someone they did a good job at the show last night. Or, give a friend a call and say hey I was just thinking about you. Or even to be there for someone who has just come out of the closet and provide support. Too often I see people not sharing how they really feel or, in turn tearing someone else down just to make themselves feel better. Life is hard, and it doesn't get easier with any road bumps we incur. But I encourage you to take a moment to call a friend you haven't talked to in a while to see how they are doing. Do you part to help make people feel good about themselves, there is good in all of us some we just have to dig a little deeper to get it out of them. It's time for us to realize that "Gay Pride" isn't just one weekend out of the year, and that it's not just about a parade and a festival, those are the "perks" of it. Gay Pride is being proud of who you are and your friends, showing love, friendship companionship, and most importantly patience. As I always say, Tell the people around you that you love them, you never know when you are going to lose them!! Believe me it makes you feel good when someone says "I Love You" whether it is a friend, drag sister, family member, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife. We all just want to be loved! Spread the LOVE!! With Love and Pride, Paige Passion Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2007 |
