| Passion's Point A Message from Paige Passion Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2007 Hello all, As the weather starts to warm up and everyone starts brushing off their pageant packages or, starts to put the final stages on the pageant packages (I HOPE). I am thrilled to be enterting into the "HEART" of the pageant season. We have several preliminary pageants and I am so looking forward to seeing what contestants are returning, what new faces we will have, and to see our fabulous system grow. I just recently returned from a long vacation in Florida and it was WONDERFUL!! But as always it is nice to be back home and to be able to see my "gay" family here in Columbus. I just wanted to take a moment and encourage you all to tell the folks that surround your lives that you love them and inform them how much they mean to you!! OK now let's start with this month's Passion's Point!! As I sit down to write this I am puzzled with a question. Are there contestants out there that are wondering why they should choose the GayPride system? And... What reason would bring them to the Gay Pride system? Well I felt that if there are contestants out there that are struggling with these questions or are trying to figure out what to do that maybe I could enlighten a little bit to help along with the decision. For myself, the reason why I wanted to be involved with the Gay Pride system is the main reason that it allowed me to be myself. Which in the world of Drag Pageantry that is hard to find, although I support and love the other systems that do exist. There tends to be a "mold" that has to be matched upon. Within the Gay Pride system, that mold does not exist. We want to see different and unique people expressing their unique traits and talents. There is no "black or white" answer in the Gay Pride system, the only thing that we give is the guidelines of what is expected in the categories. After that it is now your decision to take that to the next level. It is a system that truly appreciates the art of female illusion, and encourages contestants to take it to the next level of imagination, and elegance. The other thing that attracted me to the Gay Pride system is the Royalty of the Gay Pride family. The entertainers that have held the title of Miss Ohio Gay Pride are the best in the business. That vast talent and those individual's shows how diverse the Gay Pride family is. It is such a sisterhood of PROUD indivduals that have a home to come together to celebrate diversity and the privledge of being The Pride of Ohio in Pageantry. I wanted so much to be a part of that. I am still each day thanking my lucky stars to be a part of such a wonderful family. And to have Lita Mannon as the promoter (who I have often said is the "promoter's promoter") she always knows the right thing to do and how to properly handle situations, and that is something I look up to. With her as our owner and promoter she has built a strong foundation for this system! I am very proud to serve as Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2007, I am proud to be a part of the Gay Pride famiy. I look so forward to the new members that we will be receiving in our family. That is what this is all about supporting eachother and being proud to stand up and be an individual! As I always say If any of you need any help, or have questions, ANYTHING just contact me at [email protected]. I am here for you and to help you!! Also don't forget the next oppurtunity to join the Gay Pride family at a City Preliminary pageant is May 13, 2007 at Axis for Miss Columbus Gay Pride. Come join us as Tracie Lords steps down as Miss Columbus Gay Pride and we welcome our next preliminary pageant winner to the 2008 court!! With Love and Pride, Paige Passion Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2007 |
