Boogitty,
Boogity, Boogity Boys! DW is back. I know, I know, you all
have been missing my expert opinons. Well its your lucky day because here
comes my first report of the 2007 season!
Lets first break down all the challenges in Nascar this year.
The Car of Tommorrow: Jesus, 17 races with a
completely new body! Are you kiddin me? What will make the
difference? Driver, teams with money? Experience? Only time will
tell. One thing for sure. Picking winners and consistent performers just
got a lot harder.
Toyota: This is a little easier. Toyota
will eventually get it. They have already proven it in the truck
series. But they made a big error in creating all new teams instead of
convincing some of the experienced teams to convert to their ride. All
those notes now have to be compiled one race at a time. They will stuggle
all year but should have at least one top 20 driver.
Driver changes and rookies: It is my
experience that drivers who change teams usually struggle the first year.
I think rookies who come into the league tend to performe at a higher level.
So with all that in mind, let me rank this years teams.
1. BONGO FURRY: This in my opinion was the best draft pick and I
think Bongo did a solid job. All picks are full time rides with lots of
potential. A nice mix of youngsters and veterans. Lots of Chevy's!
2. Shoompaq Racing: I struggled with this ranking. I'm not so
sure this team deserves to be this high! The last three picks of Montoya,
Ragan, and Martin are what gives this team potential.
3. Klynch Racing: Another solid drafting job. These first
four starters will be real good. R.Gordon and Vickers will hold this team
back. Oh yea, no more homo. oops, I mean Home Depot love.
4. Blown Heads Racing: With all these Hendrick cars this team could
easily be ranked 2 or 3. But three of his six drivers changed
teams.
5. Mr. Racing: Last years champ was finally unlucky and got a poor
drafting position. Even though his first three picks will be great!
Labonte, Blaney, and Green will kill. Remember Car of Tommorrow! Oh yea,
nobody repeats as champion in the Northcoast Fantasay Nascar League!
6. Tern-A-mania: Ok let me get this right. Now this team
sucked in its rookie year. Then broke the sophmore jinx and won a
championship in its second year. Then fell short again in year
three. After watching Tern-A-mania draft Gordon in his pajamas I am
convinced that winning a championship during the sophmore blues means that you
never win again. Especially if you have Gordon pajamas.
Needless to say it will be a wild a wooley year. If these rankings hold
true I will be suprised. It is as wide open as it was when we first
started doing this. We are rookies all over again!
DW is OUT!
