IN MEMORIAM
Elizabeth Smith Eichenauer was born in Hopewell Township, Mercer
County, Ohio February 10, 1849, and suddenly and quietly passed away
Thursday, June 16th 1929. Her age was eighty years three months and
twenty seven days. She was united in holy wedlock with Tobias
Eichenauer February 24, 1874. For over 55 years she and her husband
enjoyed the blessing of a happy married life together. They were
blessed with eight sons and two daughters- one daughter and two sons
preceeded her in death many years ago. When she was but twelve years
old she gave her heart to the Lord and united with the Hope
Evangelical Church remaining true to the Lord and her church until
her demise. She was converted under the ministry of the sainted Rev
George Hertel. Of her it can truthfully be said she was a jewel in
the home and in the community. Her husband and the children dearly
loved her and everyone who knew her respected her. In the Christian
life she was a potential influence for good. All of her children were
converted and were active members of the Hope Evangelical Church.
Thus they follow the excellent example of Christian service set by
their parents. For many years she had been ailing in health, but was
able to do her general work until last Thursday when her soul
tactfully took its flight to the spiritual realms above. She was a
sister of the Rev JE Smith of Oregon. She leaves the following six
sons and one daughter; Frank, William, Daniel, Roy, Benjamin and
Richard and Mrs TJ Bice all of Hopewell Township, Mercer County,
Ohio. Besides these there are 21 grandchildren and three great
grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Funeral services were
at Hope Evangelical Church and burial in the Buck Cemetery.

IN MEMORIAM (church newsletter)
We are again reminded on this sloemn occasion we are all going down
the valley one by one. The angel of the Lord has sounded the roll
call for another of God's children in the person of Daniel Webster
Eichenauer, who was the son of Tobias and Elizabeth (Smith)
Eichenauer. He was born in Hopewell Township, Mercer County, Ohio
February 21, 1882, being the sixth of 10 children who graced the
parental home, of which five brothers and one sister remain to mourn
his departure.
Abrupt was the ending of the earthly sojourn of this our son,
companion, father, and brother, when on Tuesday evening, May 22, 1934
at 6:00 o'clock the deceased was accidently killed by train, and all
that was earthly- and mortal of Daniel grew lifeless and silent,
while his spirit went to God, his Maker. The time of his sojourn with
us was 52 years 3 months and one day.
Ah! Yes, this death was so unexpected and untimely, came as a great
shock. Yet, whenever death comes we think it all too soon.
Nevertheless, hovering near, as a comfort to our saddened hearts, we
have the realization, that he who wastes not the raindrops, the
blades of grass, nor the evening zephyrs, but makes them all carry
out His eternal plan, has given immortality to the mortal and
gathered to himself this the noble spirit of this our departed loved
one.
Mr Eichenauer spent his entire life as a resident of Hopewell
Township. His childhood and young manhood life was spent in the
parental home, as an obedient and faithful son of the cherished
circle. On December 24, 1905 he was united in marriage to Flonnie E.
Rhodes. This union was blessed with four children, namely: Albert
Glenn Eichenauer, whose home is 139 Odli...Ave Dayton, Ohio; Daniel
Dale; Leota Viola, 19 Bond Street Dayton Ohio, and Lavaun Bernadine
at home.
The first three years of his married life were spent on the farm
which is now known as the Roy Eichenauer home, later moving to the
home where he has spent the last 25 years of his life. The deceased
leaves to mourn his going the aged father, Tobias Eichenauer, who was
83 years of age last December, the bossom companion and helpmeet and
the four children and one daughter in law, Mr and Mrs Albert Glenn
Eichenauer of Dayton Ohio; Dale Daniel, Leota Viola Eichenauer, 19
Bond Street, Dayton, Lavaun Bernadine at home, also four
grandchildren, Glenn Merrill, Lelia Delore, Lois Arlene, and Robert
Daniel Eichenauer.
Five brothers and one sister remain to mourn his departure, namely
Frank W., William H., Roy T., Benjamin H. and Richard R. Eichenauer
and Mrs. Nora M. (Eichenauer) Bice, all residing near Celina, Ohio.
There also remains uncles, aunts, cousins, a host of nephews and
neices besides many other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Mrs DW Eichenauer is the daughter of Mr and Mrs AT Rhodes of Celina,
Ohio. The deceased was preceeded in death by his mother Elizabeth
(Smith) Eichenauer, June 6, 1929; also two brothers and one sister
who died in infancy.
The subject of this biography was converted and joined the Hope
Evangelical Church when but a very young manand has remained a life
long member, during which time, at intervals, he held official
posistions in the church. Dan, as he was perhaps better known, was
quiet unassuming and sedate in his manner of life. Never did he have
much to say but did would remark that he could not say much but
believed in living the life he professed.
To all who heard him on last Sunday night, it will be a cherished
memory of his last public testamony which he made on behalf of his
Christ and his personal knowledge of salvation from sin. Many have
remarked, relative to having noted the special spirit of
cheerfulness, and the smile from this our loved one; on this Tuesday,
the day that marked the time of his translation terrestial to the
realm of celestial.
Burial Buck Cemetery, Celina, Ohio.

These were given to me already cut out of the paper by a family member who had saved them. I assume they ran in the local Celina newspaper, except for the ones that are from the church newsletter.
