Jacob C. Young FROM CHURCH NEWSLETTER The children and grandchildren celebrated the Golden Wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Tobias Eichenauer at their home in Hopewell Township, Sunday. The children came laden with baskets of all the essentials of a genuine country feast and those who partook of the noon day feast were the seven children and their families; Mr and Mrs FW Eichenauer and their children , Floyd, Raymond, Edith and Ruth; Mr and Mrs WH Eichenauer and children Glenn Dale Leota and Lavaun; Mr & Mrs Roy Eichenauer and children Cliffored, Kenneth and Florence; Mr & Mrs BH Eichenauer and children , Benjamin, George and Jane; Mr & Mrs TJ Bice and children Rhoda and Cletus; Mr & Mrs Eichenauer and daughter Treva. Other relatives were a granddaughter and husband Mr & Mrs Ray Martz of Dayton, a sister, Mrs Sarah Fetters, Rev HS Berger and family. A grand daughter baked the wedding cake adorned with 50 golden candles and two bouquets of gold and white cut flowers were presented to the venerable couple by the grandchildren. Mr Eichenauer has been seriously ill for several months and at the anniversary dinner was the first time he had been at the table since before the holidays. Mrs Eichenauers health has been failing for several years. For these reasons the guests were confined to the immediate relatives. After dinner Mt Eichenauer's brother Justus, wife and son Lester; Mr & Mrs Ben Deitsch; Mrs Bertha Werner (Stuirgis, MI) and Frank Fetters joined the guests in the celebration. Mr Eichenauer who is 73 years old and his wife who was Miss Elizabeth Smith of Celina is 75 years old. They were married in Celina February 24, 1874 By Rev Jacob C Young and except for a few years they lived in Celina, have spent their entire married life in Hopewell Township. |
