Care Solutions Warning

This a warning about Care Solutions Home Health Care that operates from 81 E. Queenswood Rd., Morton IL, 61550 and 35 S. Main St. Canton, IL 61520.

We used Care Solutions for my mother. She has Parkinson's Disease and dementia. Care Solutions was supposed to provide one CNA to care for my mother. It couldn't. There was an incident that was not unexpected with a person who suffers from dementia. We lost the caregiver, and Care Solutions had no backup. It couldn't even staff the next day, and I had to miss work. Then Araceli Lear, the administrator, just hired someone off the street to have a body. We did not know this.

When I went home one day on lunch, I found the CNA, who was supposed to be taking care of my mother, sitting in front of the house in a car with a man. When the Araceli Lear confronted her on my cell phone, the CNA went crazy. She refused to leave the house when I told her to or to give back my phone. When I reached for my phone, she rasied her hand. She told the police her intent was to keep my phone away from me. (Of course, I knew that at the moment.) I put my hand behind her shoulders to keep her from moving back and reached for my phone. In a world full of ... "justice," I ended up being arrested for and pleading guilty to battery on her in exchange for court supervision.

For various reasons, my mother ended up going to a retirement center, Lake Manor, which is also owned by the Care Solutions owners. My mother started falling all the time; at least, I saw injuries and deep bruises I hope were from falls. Then she told me they stopped helping her up.

In fact, the administrator's father, who lives there for no apparent reason, knocked my mother down with a door. He made no attempt to help my mother up or to get a CNA to help her. He just went right on. (That was March 24, 2008.). On March 25th, Araceli Lear's, the administrator's, father admitted that to a Pekin Police officer.

When I had a phone confrontation with Araceli Lear on March 25th about this, she sounded very disturbed. In a conversation in June of 2007 Araceli's, husband told me she had major depression. From the way she behaved on March 25th, I can tell that it is not well controlled. Araceli also recently lost their best caregiver because she went off on her.

I then did some checking and found that Gary Lear, Araceli's husband and the LPN who goes to people's homes and sets up medications and draws blood, has recently done time for burglary and has an even more recent conviction for felony theft. He also has access to all records and to every place in Lake Manor.

They also got months behind billing the insurance.

Bottom line: If you don't much care for your loved one, your reputation, or your property, you'll deal with Araceli "Aura" Lear and Gary Lear--otherwise you won't.
