THE BRITT FAMILY

Our William Jacob Britt was listed in the 1860 census as born in 1829 in Pa. We have little information about him or his parents before this time. We do know he died circa 1899 at Pleasantville, Pa. as a result of a fall at a friends's house there. We also know he was buried in a "free cemetery", known as Lee Cemetery located at Rich Hill in Oil City, Pa. but there are no markers on any of the graves to tell us exactly where he was buried. During his life time we know he married a lady named Elizabeth Taylor, (daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Taylor), she was (according to the 1860 census) born circa 1828. They had four known children but there could have been more, they were:.
-------- 2a. Mary Ellen Britt, born 5 Deec. 1846 in Clarion Co.,Pa.: She died 5 Jan 1911 in Oil City, Pa. and was married to Jacob Womer.
They had at least six children that we know about:

----------------3b. Simon Womer, born 1867 (deceased).

-------- 2b. Sarah Elizabeth Britt, born November 1856 (deceased), married Zept Brown, Born March 1856 (deceased). They had 13 children (according to the 1900 census). Only the last three on this list lived to maturity.

-------- 2d. Joseph Perry Britt, born in May of 1865 in Clarion, Co Pa. He died 21 Sept. 1926 in Oil City, Pa. He was married to Hannah Lucinda (Baxter) born 24 July 1865 Appollo, Pa. She died 17 Jan 1949 in Oil City, Pa.. They had seven children that we know of:
