JULIAN B
The legacy of the Muscogee Nation ehoes forth from their tribal son, Julian B.  Hailing from Oklahoma, his mission is to enlighten the masses through education and heart-driven music.  In 1900, after completeing his studio work with the multi-platium group, The Gap Band, with their encouragement it became clear that hip-hop would be taken to new and higher levels. In 1994, his first full fledged album "Once Upon A Genocide" was released on SOAR'S Warrior label and had been referred to by many as the only "classis Hip-Hop album" by a native artist. Since then Julian B has been gaining respect by sharing the stage with the likes of Public Enemy, The  Sugar Hill Gang, Tom Bee of XIT, WAR, WOR, Grand Master Flash's Melle Mel, Keith Secola, and Star Nayea.  Hanging out with Jeru, Rage Against the Machine, Fugazi, and Rhazel form the Roots crew, has only inspired him to forge ahead in his quest to create conscious music.
Some of the concerts that Julian B has honorably performed at are as follows: Apache Nations Unite. AIM Anniversary Celebration for three consecutive years. Indigenous People's Day concerts for four years straight, Red nation's Celebration and The Oglala Commemoration Youth Awareness for Peltier Concert, and many other American Indian functions including the Denver March Pow-wow. Julian B has donated much of his time to performing at benefit concerts for various cause such as the Zapatista Movement, and the struggles at Black Mesa. Julian's other accomplishments include receiving a nomination for best rap performance from the Native American Music Awards (NAMMY's) and a featured spot on th poplular radio show Native American Calling. He has also been featured in such  publications as Indian Artist, The Lakota Times, Native People's, Turtle Island News, Aboriginal Voices, The LA Times, Blue Pony, Platinum, Ritmo Beat, and the Source. Hip-Hop is soulfood. Julian feels he has  a chance to walk "heads up" with the youth and teach them expression, sobriety and self-esteem through the arts and traditional ways of life.
Nobel Pease Prize recipient Rigoberta Menchu shared words with Julian, "What you do in the struggle is strong, and the people will listen."
Julian B knows he alone can't chance the world. However, if he can help to strengthen and unify native peoples as well as educate non-natives about the Indigenous people of this land, then the red road will be traveled with greater immortality !
