Ogilthorpe was formed in late 2001 by four guys who were sick of the mind-numbing sounds of pop-punk.

Armed with our instruments, a bit of knowledge on how to play them and ideals of creating a local music scene, we set out to spread a message of protest and unwillingness to give up our right to be heard.

While it would be futile to describe our sound with words, I will say that we draw our biggest influence from early punk rock: Naked Raygun, Descendents, Ramones, Minor Threat and Dead Kennedys. Mix that in with trace amounts of Jimi Hendrix, Dick Dale and the New Bomb Turks and you can get the idea.

We adhere to a 100% DIY ethic. This is not because it's universally accepted as the "punkest way to go." No, we do this because we have no other choice. We make our own recordings in the garage. We book our own shows. We pay for our own merchandise. We also maintain control of everything.
