| Sexta-feira, Novembro 5, 2004 GABRIELA ANDRADE DA SILVA This is my first text in English, and I think that for a first text, it's very good. I made it for my English classes. The ant and the cicade It's a big forest with many trees. Although it's morning, sunlight can't pass through the leaves, then that is a bloomy and humid place. People don't know about it. It's a hidden place in the forest's heart. Under the leaves that cover the floor, there is a small being. Nobody without very good eyes can see it. It's a tiny ant that is following the other ant's pawprints. Have you ever seen an ant pawprint? It's very difficult to see, I know, but not for an ant... This ant is searching for food. Any bug can be a good meal that will be carried to her ant-hill. She knows that the ant's footprints path probably goes to a big bug, and many ants will be needed to cary it to the ant-hill. Then, this good ant is going to help her family and friends to bring the dinner home. While she walks, she thinks: "I'm really a good girl! I always help my friends and family! I'm not like the cicada, who doesn't hunt, or carry the food home! She just sings everyday!". Sudenly, a long tongue hits her. She can't move or scream (because ants doesn't scream). She tries to bite the tongue, but she can't. It's too late. She's in an anteater's tongue and this is her last breath (I know that ants don't breathe, but this is a beautiful way to say that she is dead). In a tall tree's branch, a cicada watches this scene. She is singing. |
