Derrick Howard 38 Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire 3 Saloon Stock Cars 2000 in Saloons Started racing in 1980 at Cleethorpes when Spedeworth were running the show, stopped racing when Cleethorpes shut. In 1997 I decided to take up GT Hot Rod racing with Trackstar, won the British and Grand Prix series, and it got so I wanted a bit more excitement and bought Diggy Smith's 1999 World Championship winning car (later took off him for an infringement) and boy what a wake up call from "ooooh you've scratched my paintwork" to "take that!!!" resulting in my first race damage as a broken steering rack, a broken brake disc and a broken differential. Never mind, all experience gained. Skegness (cos it's closest) Saloons by about 100miles!!! In Saloons winning at Kings Lynn to qualify for the European Seeing all the boys of the 1980's in Saloons at Cleethorpes, and travelling to Wisbech, Ipswich and Wimbledon halycion days Just to win a few more races Top of the list must be Olive & Nicholson Garage, Sleaford without them I would be nowhere, Alan (Nicholson) and Brin (Olive) have supported me with all my daft whims and fancys, still smile, use of their workshop, facilities and advice second to none. Of course my long suffering mechanic Michael, another to put up with some of my nutty ideas! Then there is Colin at what was Sleafordian Fencing Services now called Sleafordian Metals for anything metal. My partner Diane goes everywhere with me, rain, mud and shine and 99% of the time so does Jayne, Michael the mechanic's wife. |
