And now Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time for another round of "Spot the Yellow Jacket"! The lucky winner will receive a pair of tickets to the Stock Rod World Final...

Just as well one of his team mates was passing him or else the South might have capitalised...or maybe not!



As I write this, (2pm on Sunday 20th January 2002, yes I know I�m up early today�) I am thinking back to what I was doing this time last week�witnessing the perfect meeting to kick off Season 2002 � CIVIL WAR 3!!! Now, up until last Sunday I�d never seen a �proper� Banger meeting, Cowdenbeath�s Kingdom Krunch back in �00 being the closest thing I suppose. Bangers weren�t introduced up in Crimond until 1989, and I suffered 10 years spectating them before I fled south. To be brutally honest, there are harder incidents in Cowdie Stock Rods than there are in Crimond Bangers, unless of course, the Mob decide to visit� If you were a hardcore Banger fan paying a visit to Crimond (why???) you would be excused for thinking that the Bangers were not contact � they really are quite poor. God knows how many meetings some of the cars up there have done, but it�s a lot I can tell you! Sometimes it may seem I�m having a go of me old faithful Crimond, but after you�ve spectated at various other tracks around the country, you realise how tame the action can be. Back in the 80�s Crimond was brill, especially the annual exchanges with Nitten and Armadale drivers � superb! Goggs Alexander, Gillian Philp, George Chirray etc etc in the Saloons along with Les Clark, Jimmy Moodie etc etc in the Supers/F2�s � simply marvellous! I will say this, last season was the first season (perhaps ever) that I never saw a meeting at Crimond, and it felt strange�really strange�in fact I almost got emotional� So, what about CW3? Well as the alcoholic beverages were consumed, the North headed for a hat-trick of war victories, and in fine style! Man of the Meeting in my book was Northern Young Star #14 Will Walmsley in the Light Brigade, absolutely superb! This young guy stole the show with his �Never say die� performance, no matter how hard the south hit him, he hit them back! Despite having a severely �crabbing� Metro after the first race, he came back out for more, and more, and more�a true Banger performance me thinks! All in all, the North were the better team on the day, coming out on top in the full Banger races. The Southern drivers seemed to prefer the first round of races, with the North tending to go for eliminating their opponents. But whatever the tactics, it paid off once again for the Northern lads, and the question now must be �Can they make it four in a row???� The socialising was good too, chilling with the likes of Loudmouth, DJ Blakey and the Tic Tacs, Scotty too Hotty and his bitches, Big Mac and a small fry please� All very pleasant for a Sunday afternoon in the Hills I think you�ll agree� These online articles ain�t gonna have as many words as the �Off the Wall� column in Oval Racing News cos that would take off some of the shine from the column! Instead, what I�ll do here is write about a meeting I may have gone to after I wrote an article, or perhaps continue something I touched on in my ORN column but may have run out of words to talk about further� There will be no regular pattern to the appearance of new articles on the website, so make sure you�re on the mailing list so you can keep up to date with what�s happening.
