With the first grading period over and done with, there was still one more meeting before the new grades took effect and once again the lower graders took the spoils. There were Heat maximums for Skeet #31 and Chris #151 both from the yellow grade with fellow yellows Dragon #428 and Mrs WW #27 also picking up Heat successes along with white top AliP #202, red top Trash #250 and World Champion Bozz #282. The remaining two slots in the Final were grabbed by Stuch #131 and Sly #732 and that set the scene for a Final at one of BriSCA Heats most action packed tracks. The early pace was set by sole white top AliP with Chris #151 and Skeet #31 getting the early break from the yellow grade. At halfway Chris makes his move for the lead, shifting AliP aside whilst Skeet, Mrs WW and Dragon clash allowing Trash and JayW to come through behind Dragon. World Champ Bozz suffers an unlucky disconnection but takes a healthy points haul boosting his National Points position thanks to another victory in the Grand National. AndyH #148, Jok #79 and F2stox #270 also take victories in the GNs, with Chris climbing back to a 6th place finish in his GN. The next meeting was the first Championship meeting of the season and also marked the start of the new grades taking effect. Bradford was the venue for the UK Open Championship and what a cracking evenings racing it turned out to be. Only two Heats went to drivers graded lower than blue as Chris #151 and F2stox #270 took honours from their yellow grades. Despite being upgraded to blue, Skeet #31 was the only driver to take a two Heat maximum with Wolfie #190, Jok #79, Trash #250 and Corny #391 claiming a Heat win each. However after a disastrous first Heat Corny finds himself going into a Consolation but the 391 car storms to victory with Trance #87 finding some better luck to claim the other Consolation race. The start of the Final sees the trio of blues getting into a quite a tangle which allows Chris #151 to storm into almost a half lap lead and also allows Jok #79 to blast his way into an early second place. As the laps tick by, Jok eats into the yellow tops lead but has Skeet #31 right on his back bumper. Just after halfway, Jok pounces on the 151 forcing him wide allowing Skeet to follow suit relegating Chris down to third in almost the time it takes to type it. And so the battle is on for the lead between Skeet and Jok with the 31 car shadowing the Test Series Champion for lap after lap. Going into turn 1 with 3 to go, the blue top takes his chance and launches into the back bumper of the 79 car forcing Jok wide and almost into the wall. That gives Skeet enough of a lead to wind down the remaining laps to take an unexpected win with Jok close behind in second and Trash #250 in third. AndyH #148, Jok #79 and Dragon #428 claim Grand National victories with Skeet clawing his way back to 2nd behind Dino in their GN. The F2 League had a week off before returning to action at Birmingham for their latest World Qualifying Round. This meeting also signalled the new grades taking effect with DB #644 the biggest climber going straight to red from white, currently placing 6th in the points chart which is headed by HotRod #247, but with only one point separating him from second placed Trash #512. AndyH #148 and Jok #79 claim the 2 Heat Maximums with DB #644 and HotRod claiming one victory each. After a 5 car run-off to settle two more Final qualifiers, Chris #154 and Wrinkley #261 grabbed the qualifying slots from the Consolation event. A controversial Final sees the red and superstar graders getting into a mix-up at the start but that does not stop DB #644 who sets off after early leader Stuch #170 and takes the lead with only a few laps remaining, as Jok #79 grabs second from Stuch in the dying stages. BB #622, Jok and AndyH claim the Grand Nationals as DB can only manage a 4th place.
