The Woman Who Rides Like a Man is the 3rd book in the Song of the Lioness quartet.
Alanna has just been knighted. She and her servant, Coram, have left the palace to look for adventure in the Great Southern Desert of Tortall. However, this desert is inhabited by Bazhir tribesmen, some of whom are dislike the king & spend a lot of time fighting the "Northerners." Alanna & Coram are captured by a tribe known as the Bloody Hawk. They become members of the tribe, but Alanna is forced to become the shaman after she kills the old shaman who tried to kill her first! At once Alanna gets to work training replacement shamans. While she is doing this, Prince Jonathan shows up and they resume their relationship. Jon is training to become the Voice of the Tribes, a figure who unites all of the Bazhir tribes and helps them sort out their problems. The Voice is also kind of like a spiritual leader. And while all this is going on, something sinister is brewing in Corus!! The suspense builds.......... |
