| Riviera was conceived by Alexa and Kairo, who met at an art class at a London college. They first spotted Taylor at a Milan night-club, wearing a white plastic suit and dancing to Atomic kitten's 'Right Now'. He joined Riviera on the same night. It was later discovered he could play bass. Riviera's latest recruit is their new keyboard-player Mr. Logan Sky. Sky became a member of the band after meeting the other Rivieras in the back of a taxi at 4am, coming back from a particularly heavy night on the town. Riviera's fifth member is their drum-machine RT-123, The machine (affectionally referred to as 'Baby') is claimed by the band to be "better looking than any drummer we've ever seen". They also add proudly that "it doesn't sweat and it never takes it shirt off". One of the many 'special things' that helped kick-start Riviera's career was meeting John Peel in the cold and shiny streets of London. It must have been written in the stars. After handing John the demo the Radio 1 DJ phoned the band the very next day and asked them to record a session for his show. John Peel played various tracks of their demo in the following weeks and the band recorded four songs ('Pick-Up Star', 'International Lover', 'Kiss No.38', and 'Dance Alone') at the BBC Maida Vale studios for a session which was broadcasted on March 28th 2001. |
