Seventeen

Article by Laura Johns (6-10-00)

On June 10, 2000, pop sensation Melissa Williams
arrives in our studio for a photo shoot and to give
the readers what it is like for a normal photo shoot.
People may think this is all fun and games but when it comes down to the nitty grittiness of
stardom, you wish you weren't a star sometimes!

Melissa is our covergirl for this month. OK, I know you readers out there are just DYING to see what a part of Mel's day is like. So here ya go!

6:00 AM- Melissa arrives in our studio and is going in for makeup and wardrobe. This is Melissa's favorite part of the whole day. She loves fashion and makeup. Mel once commented, "Going into a world of clothes and makeup is a typical girl's dream come true!" This is what seventeen is all about!

7:30 AM- Melissa is finished with wardrobe and makeup and is ready for her photo shoot. She has selected several Asian looking outfits and she is looking great! Melissa looks a little bit Asian so this
combination works well. She steps into the photo room and begins striking several poses that she thinks will be suitable for the readers to see.

9:00 AM- She is taking a break for an hour and decides to hang in the lounge with our crew. How cool is that?

10:00 AM- Melissa selects a few more outfits that
veers away from the Asian theme of the earlier photos. This time Melissa is making all the calls (about clothes that is). She picks about 20 more outfits for about 20 more pictures...not including different takes. The outfits she has selected are more easy-going casual type clothes. She will now go to the makeup chair. Her makeup artist, Vera Katz, says that "for more casual attire, like the outfits Mel has chosen, we want to go for the more 'natural' look."

11:45 AM- Melissa goes back into the room where the rest of her photos are going to be taken. She chats with the photographer for a few minutes about what he's looking for in these particular photos. Melissa is now ready for the shoot and afterwards does an EXCELLENT job of what he was going for.

1:00 PM- Melissa is now finished with the photo shoot and has noticed that there were several fans outside waiting for hours to get a glance at their Queen. So, being the awesome person that she is, she steps outside and has some personal time with the fans. The fans are ecstatic. Some are even crying. This, for sure, will be a special memory in their lives!

1:45 PM- Melissa is taking a short lunch break with
who appears to be her long time "friend" Chad Linus
from the band 2Ge+her,(Melissa will be touring with
them this fall.)

2:30 PM- Melissa now chats about recieving Seventeen's "Most Fashionable Teen Artist of the Year" award to some reporters outside. Melissa is not afraid of the camera and the camera absolutely LOVES her!

3:00 PM- Melissa has got on her regular clothes now and is ready to bounce.

Seventeen has been really privileged to have Melissa come and spend the day with us! We really enjoyed every minute of it and hope to have her back soon. Melissa is in the middle of recording her debut album, out this fall, go get it when it comes out! I hope you guys out there loved this article and I hope it left you itchin for more (which we could someday provide) but for now its time to say ciao! -By Laura Johns
