I think we all have played witness to Melissa's transformation from "Melissa Williams" to Wannabe "Queen Bee". I admit, I enjoyed a couple of songs, not even that many, a song in particular that some fail to mention: "Yo Te Sigo Queriendo". To me, this is the best, and most original song on the album. The song is a latin bolero cut, it's beautifully done and her Spanish is accurate to the last t. But this is the one song that truly reflects what we have come to know Melissa for, that beautiful sweet soothing voice that she posesses. Melissa's vocal talents arent all that, I know, but she has a hell of a lot better voice than Britney and Mandy combined and she works with what she has, just like Madonna & Janet. Her performances have been amazing over the last half of 2000 (she's more of a performer, not a singer, in my opinion), regardless of how scantily clad she becomes. "Got To Go If" and "Don't Look Any Further" are the best examples of Melissa's struggle to break the mold that her record label and managers created for her. They wanted a pop princess, but Melissa wants to be a "funk-e-teer" from time to time. She tries hard to infuse that into "All I Am", but clearly the album lacks originality. Come on Melissa, you have a million staff waiting hand and foot on you. Make some original music and use that God given gift to bring others into the fold like you did with "Yo Te Sigo Queriendo". I'm not sure what those latin producers for that one song did to bring that out of you, but I recommend future collaborations with them. But please don't do like Britney and use them exclusively, otherwise you will end up with another repetitious piece of work. I'm rooting for you, I know you can do better.
