Hi youse all,
Hope most of you managed to catch the BDO run across the country and PF too.
Anyway, thought I'd let you know I've posted some live photos that I've
taken at the Sydney BDO here:

hey!
and how is everyone? great to see this list getting back into the swing of
things.. i was a little worried that everyone had gotten stuck on the
discussion board, which meant i've been getting heaps of augie march and
gomez mailouts, but hardly any econodog ones (or something for kate for that
matter)... but it's all good!
did anyone do the fun rush from the orange stage to the blue stage at the
melbourne big day out when they realised that the normal people on stage
weren't in fact rammstein, and instead pf? silly me for trusting the bdo
website which said that pf were headlining... i was all set for getting a
great position, but only ended up with a reasonable one... it was a great
set, though i'm disappointed that there's nothing from d.a. being played at
the moment.. miss that stuff!
very jealous of everyone who's seeing coldplay and powderfinger in the US
aswell!
hope everyone enjoys the rest of their summer holidays if they're still on
them!

Hi,
Someone asked about Robbie Buck and Merrick and Rosso. I don't know if
Robbie has left triple J, but he does a dance music show on SBS TV called
Alchemy which is quite good. I think its on Friday or Saturday nights. I
don't know what happened to Merrick and Rossso but I think its a shame
because they were very funny.
Bye!

To me Tom's comment's about ON5 in the digest #307 were intelligent and well
said. It wasn't like he was making a blanket "Powderfinger suck now" type
statement but was basically suggesting *gasp* that ON5 was not the greatest
thing since sliced bread. Personally I would echo his sentiments - I am not
about to turn around and say I totally hate pf now or that they are 'crap'
or whatever, but they have taken a direction in their music that doesn't
really interest me that much. It seems like the thing (that indefinable
thing) just isn't there any more for me. Well, except for maybe These Days
- which would have to be one of their best songs ever. I listen to ON5 - I
have it in the CD player as I type - but it isn't exciting like DA or
Internationalist (not easy acronym for that album) - that old thrill just
isn't there. Maybe it's me getting old, and nothing to do with music!
This is just my opinion. It is quite obvious that many, many other people
love what they are doing. It is also quite obvious that they aren't going
to go back to doing DA or Transfusion or whatever (nor would we want them to
- it would get a bit boring). My point, I guess, is that a band you love
can become a band that becomes just a band amongst many others that you can
pass a bareable time listening to, and nothing more.
I find it really annoying that people like Luc get so easily offended by an
opinion that differs from their own. Just because someone doesn't agree
with you, doesn't invalidate your opinion or taste in anyway. Why not post
a response that has some thought behind it (ala Sommer) rather than carry on
like a petulant teenager? At least that way we could get some decent
discussion going on here rather than just intros (not that there's anything
wrong with intros) as Janet says.
Thanks, that's rave enough for me,
Jill.
PS. I think Merrick and Rosso left for cold hard cash.

Hey Everyone!
Can somebody please help me? I would like to know why Merrick and Rosso have
left JJJ; I just figured they were still on holidays so I kept on listening
to CDs on the way home from work. And now I hear Robbie Buck is gone?? At
least I don't have to listen to Caroline Tran on Super Request anymore.
Also, I have a CD burner and I was wondering if someone could tell me how I
could burn to CD the U2 concert on Live At The Wireless next Monday night.
Thankyou and have a good week(end)

And congrats to PF for the Hottest 100.
And I'd have to agree somewhat with Tom. Internationalist is definately my
fav PF CD; I was pretty disappointed with the length of ON5 (which sounds
hypocritical, I know, since Internationalist is about the same), But Up &
Down & Back Again is definately a highlight for me. I guess I will just have
to buy all the singles for the B-Sides.
Someone also asked about the B-Sides on Like A Dog - they are not as good as
My Happiness CD single. The Odyssey song is "Odyssey No 2 (The Miseducation
of Powderfinger)".

Haha we are still here Janet, I just never have much to
say...yes the juicy goss has all but dried up or maybe ive
just cut down on my stalking
The Adelaide Pf BDO show was very good but I second the
call for a few oldies, when time permits. It was the first
Pf show in which i wasn't right up the front, just too
bloody hot but Bern still wore the long sleaves. I only
got up in there for Placebo as i wanted to see Brians man
boobs.
But back to Bernie, has he received major scaring, does he
have Michael Jackson syndrome and cant expose his skin to
the light??? The truth is out there
Lastly, Where is Riley? I think Sommer may almost be beating
him on Discussion board posts. So Riley,Come on you big bitch
you must have something to say. You know i love your work.
Cheerio all, Vix.

Hey all!!
So here was me getting just a little annoyed that PF were only doing London
again (which I went too)...then I heard that they were doing
Manchester....and being from Glasgow I was beginning to think what the hell
is wrong with us this time......but low and behold.....GLASGOW!!!..on April
2nd we will be blessed once more with the presence of PF.
The last time they were here they played King Tut's.....a tiny wee place, in
fact it's just a pub with a wee stage through the back, I was 5 feet away
from the band and there was 200 jammed in at the most. Now they're playing
The Garage which is a bigger venue and thank the almighty I've got 3
tickets!
So, after reading about how good it was at the BDO, it'll soon be my turn to
gloat.....I'll be sure and tell you all how it goes!
*bye*

probably should clarify my last post...I think a few people got the wrong
idea. I wasnt having a go at the band, or even the record as such. my point
was that their music is definitely changing, and while i still love the
music theyre making, I think it may lack the kick of double allergic or the
frenetic energy of internationalist. Still, the introspective melancholy is
still there in abundance, (these days etc)
please reply with any thoughts....Itd be great to get some real discussions
going on.

Hi
someone mentioned about 2 econodogs ago that like a dog was not being played
on 'triple m' type radio stations, due to it being to 'heavy' (or in my view
- because of its political stance...but thats me)
anyway when reading it i agreed - all i had heard at work was my happiness -
over and over and over and over
this was on 92.9, a more concervative station that triple m
then, the other night, much to my surprise, they played like a dog!!!
This is coming from a station who admitted to us they have a 3.5 hour repeat
schedule (we timed it, its true) and who tell us that ppl only listen for 35
mins at a time (ignoring all of us who have to work 8 hour shifts)
oh well... im off the topic of powderfinger and i guess your all bored
also in reply to mac
i use to think that O#5 wasnt the best of albums - until I listened to it a
bit more, and it gradually grew on me until its now one of my favs...

to the guy who asked what O#2 was like, well all i can say it has strongly
overtaken vladimir, the day you come and reap what you sow as my favourite
powderfinger song, i'd be willing to say it was excellent!
as for the other odyssey's, i was thinking that they ought to release all of
them on the one disk, would be good i reckon. and finnaly i hear merrick and
rosso got the sack :( and robbie's on on the weekend's now (which is good
cause now i can hear him often!).
p.s i must admit i agree that 0#5 is the weakest album so far, it's been
quite over-rated especialy compared to internationalist.

um hey yus all um Tom all I'm gonna say is:
Dude Weak ON5 rocks out!!!!!!
um yeah and I personally hold Internationalist as my least fave Powdie album
so in order I love DA the best then ON5 then Parables and then
Internationalist :( and I don't have the earlier ones :( but mehh. Yeah so
um yeah I just think it's an album which you need to listen to a few times
to come to grips with it. I wasn't a hugely large fan of the album until I
had listened a few times but I find I like it more and more with each listen
so teah I dunno try that. But yeah like I said I think the album rocks out.
And with that I'm gonna crawl back into my dark little corner. goodnight
J
ps um good luck to Coggsy(my fave) and the boyz ova in the states even tho
they left today... yeah bye again
pps yes I am on medication atm

Hey there all you rockin econos
Tom, I don't think it's fair for you to label an album their 'worst'.
'mundine' and 'depressing' is a little harsh also. Perhaps the album you
like least would be less offending...
"why don't you go and get a life, and if you can't say anything nice, don't
say anything at all" Luc, everyone has the right to say what they think,
whether good or bad. It'd get pretty boring if everyone just sat around
saying "every song they released has been the BEST ever"! I'm sure there's
some tracks you dont like either.
Anyways, I actually think it's cool that people can voice their opinions
like that.
I don't listen to O#5 as much as their other albums. I never seem to get
sick of Parables no matter how many times I play it.
Oooh guess what my friend just got? An autographed VIP pass to the Gaslight
instore from when Internationalist was released!!! I think there's 4
signatures on it, but they're not that creative, you pf boys! just some
funny squiggles and stuff :P
And on the mentioned subject of Coldplay, they will be on Cold Live At The
Chapel this Saturday on channel 10. Apparently it is the last in the
series!!! It'll be missed, they've had some talent on that show... oooh, and
I think it was Janet that asked a while ago if we could see Cogsy watching
Foo Fighters on that show, well I had a look and I didn't think I saw him!!!
sorry!
catch ya later

Hi Doggies,
I have to ask, does anyone agree with me when I say
that Love My Way is one of the greatest songs the boys have done, yes i
know i know the Psych Furs did it originally but the boys have
done such a great job of it, it has been on repeat in my stereo for the
past three weeks!! I have to agree with the people who are saying
that O#5 isnt the best album they have done, I personally prefer
Internationalist but O#5 is second in line. MMM anonoyed me the way
they said LAD is TOO rock, they are a rock station, how could it
possible be too rock??!?! beats me. Just another thing and don't get
me wrong, ColdPlay are one of my favourite bands at the moment, but I
think its unfair that Powderfinger are supporting them rather than the
other way around, PF have brought out 4 wicked albums and Cold Play have
only brought out 1 (which is by the way is fantastic) but still I find
it strange the way the music industry works, is it because ColdPlay have
become commercialised straight away and Powderfinger have
only started to bring out their music to more mainstream stations?? someone
plz explain the music industry to me!!
Bye Friends & Foes
Pia
ps) has anyone seen 'High Art'? crap movie but the main phorographer
chick is the female version on Bernie, I dont by any means mean that
in a disrespectful way but the facial features are very similar and
the hair is the same. FrEAAKkY pps) my interpretation of a road

i have to disagree. i absolutely adore ON5! its so soaring andd lush and
majestic. 'internationalist' is actually my least fav powdy album. slot of
the songs just dont have longevity. my least fav track on ON5 is like a dog
(not that that excuses mmm for not playing it)... and thrilloilogy may well
be the best song they have ever written. especially the live version. its
so climatic! it could only be better if bern grunted in it. bring back the
grunting i say!!
