This is the first time I have posted I've just been soaking it all up
and seeing what it's all about. I'm 18 and from Brisbane, I have been a
fan of Powderfingers for years! I went to this years Big Day Out and saw
them for the first time ever (seeing as though they are always sold out
so quickly on their tours). They were absolutely brilliant, I too like
many others would have liked some older stuff from Double Allergic but
it was still awesome! It's extremely hard to pick a favourite song but
'Whatever Makes You Happy', 'My Kinda Scene' and 'DAF' are right up
there, however all the songs are excellent. After seeing them live for
the first time I am definately going to be at the front of the line for
when they next come around so I don't miss out.

How shocked am I to hear that I get to see Powderfinger in a week. Had I
known they were going to open for Coldplay sooner, I would have bought tix
for both nights. Of course it's sold out, it's a small place to begin with..
I guess I could rely on the good old fashioned scalper to help me out? I'm
happy, happy, happy!!! Too bad you're back in Canberra Justine : (

Hey there,
Just a few things:
Where are all the oldies? I mean the econodogs that used to post
every second digest (minus dan & I who posted twice in every one!!)???
It seems to be all introductions now but what about those ones from
ages ago???
James?? Jeanette?? Kate?? Emma?? Dave?? Steve?? Vic?? Kathryn??
Mike?? Vix?? Jacqui??
COME OUT AND PLAY!
On a different note:
"Any fellow Sydney westies on the mailing list thingo? Oooh, a
westie! Yes, we are traditionally known as the scraggy-sydney-siders"
Erm I am west-ish but I wouldn't consider meself a scrag! Where are
you from?? Penrith or further??
Oh and um I finally worked out html a little so my site is being
formatted so it is at least readable now minus the headache :P
http://www.angelfire.com/pq/parables/index.html

Tom said in the last digest:
>"Its old news now, but was anyone else incredibly disappointed with >O#5? A
>pretty mundane follow up to a brilliant release like >internationalist."
I'd have to agree there. There's something about Internationalist that grabs
me more than Odyssey...
>"THe whole album is depressingly uniform. There are some highlights,
> >(these days, my kinda scene) but apart from that, theres little
> >variation, imagination, or innovation."
Harsh words, but scrape a little of the abrasiveness of those statements,
and I think you might have something there...
>"I dont like to say so, butid have to call it
>their worst record to date."
I still wouldn't go that far, but you have a very valid point no less...
Blessed be,
Sommer

Hi all,
Wow it's been awhile since I last posted but I thought the time has
come to add this little bit of news. Coldplay are taking Powderfinger
on tour in the US with them!! How cool is that. Cheers to Coldplay
for supporting our Aussie champs. That would be one hell of a concert
thats all I can say.
Anyway thats all.

This is in response to "tom's" post. i respect your opinion, but
why don't you go and get a life, and if you can't say anything nice,
don't say anything at all.

Hi guys!!
My name is Jessica Schembri, I'm 18...and live in the groovy
city of Melborne( a big HI to all the Victorians out there!!)
I found out about this fantastic mailing list through one of
my best buddies..Katie(hi!!) she is also a very CRAZY Powderfinger
fan!
The first time that I saw Powderfinger play live, was on the 28th
of october in melborne. I stood center front at the barrier, at
the over-age gig!!( Just so happened to be in the middle of my
year 12 exams...but i'd do anything to see the guys play!!) I
also saw em @ the melb Big Day Out, where i was touched, poked,
proded and crushed in the pit. After taking as much as i could,
my friend and I ended up standing just out of the pit...blowing
bubbles, and singing very loudly(out of key) !!
My fav song??? That is such a hard question to answer...at the
moment probably "come away", and "whatever makes you happy".
Capoicity is also another fav!! I can't pick an album..they're
all great!
hope to see some of you around,
Cheers......Jesska!!
P ROCK!
PS. Just like to say that triple M suck!! Like A Dod is a
fantastic song!!

Hey all..
Well I've been meaning to join for ages but never got around to it, but I
finally got my slackass into gear. =) Um as far as a little bit about
myself, I'm in Year 11, almost 16, and I live in Perth. I love all of the
albums, my favourite songs ranging including Sink Low, DAF, Belter,
Capoicity, Up and Down and Back Again and Thrilloilogy. I went to this years
BDO in Perth, I waited for over 2 and a half damn hours so that I could get
a prime position, it dragged on forever but was such a fabulous performance
that it was well worth it! (Needless to say.)
The worst experience at a Powderfinger concert for me would have to have
been at Rock-It, I got kicked in the back of the head by a crowd-surfer only
3 songs into the set, knocked unconcious and pulled out of the mosh pit with
a concussion. I found out about the Econodogs from a couple of places,
Oipic, powderfinger.net, etc. I suppose that's about it, hope I didn't bore
you too much. =)

Subject: hello
Hey all,
I am a new econodog, but (fairly) longtime 'finger
fan.
I am 16 years old, and I live in a little shit hole in
country victoria.
I saw powderfinger for the first time at homebake 98
in Melbourne when I was 13. I saw them for the 4th
time at Melbourne BDO last week, and I gotta say,
though I've said it each time I've seen them, that
it's the best they've been.
I thought that internationalist was so great that it
could not possibly be improved upon, but my first
listen to odyssey proved me wrong. It's easily the
greatest record I have ever heard.
My favourite powderfinger song would probably have to
be Up & down & back again.
Anyway,
rock on,
Lucie.

Well I suppose you knew this was coming mac phail but it does have to be
said...
No music is BAD as such... you may not like it but it doesn't mean it's
crap. How about the guys have found a good place in their music that they
like, and buy record sales compared to previous record sales, the general
public finds their new music great too. Now I am the first person to say
that their old music is my fav part (Read my first entry to found how i feel
about parables) I love listening to their old stuff, but their new stuff
still rocks hard.... The emotional pull of the songs are amazing, and the
way one note can send shivers up your spine is what i call good music, no
matter what shape or form...
I also wanted to say thanks to the guys for a great song in "These Days"..
okay i know i am kinda behind time (Hey i only got in this thing about 3
days ago.. give me a break) I actually got to sing that song in front of my
whole school at a mass (Geeky yes, fun DEFINANTLY) and i just love it...
well thats all from me for now...
I love this digest!! YOU ECONODOGS ARE COOL!!! you go OFFFF!!!! he he
