Kimberley asked about a song by the name of Americana played at Homebake.
Well, I spoke to Ian in June 2000, and asked him if 'My Love' (whcih is now
Waiting For The Sun) and 'America' (the other Homebake newie) would be on
the forthcoming album (remember it's only June 2000).
He said My Love had made the album, but America hadn't.
I asked if it would appear as a b-side perhaps in the future, and he
responded with something like "maybe, we'll just have to wait and see what
happens".
It's a shame I think, because I seem to remember the general consensus was
that 'America' was the more popular of the two newies.
Nick
P.S. Gold Coast BDO set comprised songs ONLY from Odyssey and
Internationalist. 'Like A Dog' was the opener, and Bernie did a solo these
days.

Ello,
Just a quick post to say that the Gold Coasts, Big Day Out, went off!
Powderfinger taking that cake as usual, hauling in the crowds to a point of
rediculism. A very, very large crowd, of around 40,000 hot, sweaty and
sunburnt bodies enjoyed a great range of powdie tunes such as - My
Happiness, Celebrity Head, Up and Down and back again, Like a Dog, Waiting
for the sun, Thrilloilogy, My Kinda Scene, These Days and many more...A
GREAT day out with great, entertaining performances from Placebo, PJ Harvey,
Coldplay, Powderfinger - of course, and many others!
Hope you all enjoyed/enjoy your Big Day Out 2001 experience, as myself,
along with many others certainly did!
cheerio

Well well other states you continue to pay us out about not being as
supportive, but you still have not seen them yet .
They ROCKED make sure you get there early to get up the front , you may
even catch bernies tamporine if he gets pumped up enough again .
I must let this be known biscuit were also good with fire works on stage
along with flame throwers . But these two were far and away the best ,
bodyjar also impressed .
The highlight was when some dropkick was shining a laser pointer at the king
frontman .He replied mid verse "put it away f**k wit " and continued on like
a true champion not even going close to loosing pace.
HAIL THE KING .

it says on the play list, but i dont think it has been recorded anywhere.
they also played a song which u might have heard called My Love which was
later changed to Waiting For The Sun which obviously appears on O no. 5

Hello and Happy Chinese New Year to you all! I thought I'd introduce myself
after lurking for 7 digests. I'm Tash, I live in Melbourne and I wasn't a
huge fan of pf until ON5 - I'd bought Internationalist when it first came
out but hadn't really listened to it - now it plays non-stop in my CD
player (ON5 is reserved for my car stereo!) I'd just like to say that UP
AND DOWN AND BACK AGAIN IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT and I was a little upset
that I've never heard it live...I was at last years Forum gig jumping
around at the front, never had so much fun jumping into other people.
Which leads me to my dilemma. I'm torn between wanting to go to the BDO and
having no money. I can get the dollars if I really have to but I don't know
... is it money well spent or money wasted? Also I don't particularly want
to go by myself...anything being organised? Help!
On a sadder note - we'll miss you tigers Merrick and Rosso...

I don't know if anyone read the Sunday Mail, but, they had a little article
on Powderfinger, here it is:
LATEST Radio Crimes Department: If you've wondered why you're not hearing
Powderfinger's unaffectionate ode to Prime Minister John Howard - the new
single Like a Dog - on commercial airwaves, there's a simiple explaination.
Triple M, the questionably self-proclaimed home of rock in Briz, regards
Like a Dog as too heavy for its listeners (pfft). Instead, the station is
playing another album track, Waiting for the Sun, which may or may not be
the next 'Finger single.
B105(like any of us actually listen to this station...), which only recently
added its first-ever track by the Briz sensations (My Happiness), is
apparantly airing the new one occasionally at night.
With some 400,000 copies of Powderfinger's album Odyssey Number Five sold,
the commercial radio attitude seems rather arrogant. We also wonder why
AC/DC's last two singles can't get a guernsey on the station that's hosting
their local shows next month.
So there you go! I actually hadn't noticed that commercial radio wasn't
playing Like a Dog (because i don't listen to commercial radio), but i say
screw commercial radio! They suck! If they don't even have the balls to play
a wonderful Powderfinger track (which is a SINGLE) then everyone should take
a stand and...and...well, not listen to em!!

Amongst the huge amount of Hottest 100 congratulatory
traffic, I ask this totally unrelated question: Does
anyone know where I can get a copy of the Smashing
Pumpkins J-Files on CD? I'm a huge pumpkins fan and I
missed almost half of it. Any help anyone has would be
greatly appreciated. Thanx.
Hey, and good on the guys for getting two songs in the
top 3. I was in denial at about No.5. I knew there had
to be two pf songs to come and that My Happiness would
be No.1, but I found it hard to accept the fact that
one band could have two songs in the top 3. Hey,
they're on a hat-trick now. I'll call it early. Up &
Down & Back Again or Like A Dog to be No.1 in 2001.
Good on ya , guys.

Congrats to Powderfinger about taking the #1 and #3 pozzies in the hottest
100....pity it couldn't have been #1 and #2 (and i'm even thinking, pity it
couldn't have been My Kinda Scene as no.1, but i shall not
complain!)......but kinda glad that U2's beautiful day scored highly
too.....and to top off this fab australia day, we won the cricket :-)
so once again congrats to the band, and also a big *hug* to u all who voted
for BOTH songs.....i was kinda worried there, that a majority of us would
put our support behind only one song-- as u know, when numbers are divided,
we can't expect to win.....so good on everyone who did the right thing!! :-)
ciao!

Hi doggies
Tis *sarah* here. How's it going? I've been waiting for you peoples to post
BDO accounts onto the econodog list, as I wont be there to experience it
myself *hint hint*
I have posted this message on the pf.net message board as well, so this is
for the people that don't read the board often.
I am looking for some people from the Taralgon area in Victoria...
Last year after the under 18 Forum gig for Powderfinger's O#5 tour there
were a couple of groups of people filing in backstage to meet the boys. They
went in via the door to the right inside the foyer.
After one unsuccessful attempt to sneak in with these people, I got in with
the second lot. We then got to chat to the guys in a small room near their
backstage rooms (dressing rooms? ... hehe, just doesnt sound right!)
Anyways, I was chatting to my new friend Ian, and he asked us where we were
from. Not wanting to blow my cover, I stayed quiet, but someone else said
they were from Taralgon and they would be going home later that night.
I asked one of the guys in the group to take a photo of me and Ian too
(which turned out pretty good *yay*) I also had my photo taken with Darren,
JC and Bernie took one of me and him. They were so nice!
After some more time talking to the boys, we were ushered back out into the
foyer and you went back on your bus to go home.
I have been insanely curious ever since...how come you got the privelige to
meet Powderfinger?????
And I also wanted to say thanks for not telling the security by the door
that I wasn't actually supposed to be there, coz some people in the first
lot dobbed on me : (
Please reply on the econodog or email me at the above address
I'm sure everyone will have headr this by now, but Limp Bizkit have pulled
out of the Big Day Out and Australia's very own *powderfinger* will now be
headlining!!! *whoo hoo*
And congrats go to the pf boys for their hottest 100 win : )
Thanks again!
*sarah*

Well, part way through Reef's song on the Hottest 100 on Rage, ABC
here in Adelaide went down and 20minutes later I'm still waiting,
but listening to the simulcast on JJJ, we're up to 82,
eeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!
Of all the nights for the ABC to go down, it would pick the time
when me and I'm sure heaps of other people here in Adelaide were
taping the hottest 100. I'm so disappointed :-(
If anyone out there would be willing to pass on a copy, I would
be extremely grateful......
I hope this doesn't happen tomorrow night!!
Mel.
PS Anyone have any news on Aimee Jenkins and the video progress?
