Subject: hi...

Hi everyone,
I managed to get my act together and join this mailing
list, 'cause after posting at the PF discussion board
for a few months now (I only just got the internet, by
the way), I felt I should join! I've liked
Powderfinger for a while now, since I heard 'Pick You
Up', but I didn't become a fully obsessed fan until I
bothered to go and see them live at the Triple J
Unearthed/Breakfast Show. I was blown away...I saw
them again at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, that was
awesome too.
Anywayz, I'm Holly, aka 'emciay' on the discussion
board, I'm 16 years old and I live in Sydney. I love
all the Powderfinger albums, but my favourite song is
'That Ol' Track'. I also love the Duran Duran cover
'The Chauffeur' - ahhh. Yeah.
Cheers,
Holly.

my name is Kate Gordon and in the begining of January i'll be 17 years old.
I've been a huge fan of Powderfinger ever since i heard "Pick You Up" when
it was first released. I live in the small coastal town of Forster-Tuncurry,
NSW. My fav. powderfinger song is a tough on to choose, but at the moment
i'd have to say thrilliology. Fav. album is a toss-up between double
allergic and Odessey No. 5. Fav. concert was at the Enmore 26th October
2000. The first time i saw them was at Homebake '99 and it was an amazing
concert. I found out about the econodog through fellow econodog julia.
nothing else much to say but i look foward to being an econodog!!!
thankyou and goodnight.

Subject: powder spotting and thankyou for my friends! (to quote one of them)

hey all,

how cliched is it to say that u go to brisbane for a day while
on holiday at surfers, and within 1/2 an hour of getting there
u spot a member of powderfinger? lol. well it happened. walking
up to rockinghorse records we walk past none other than cogsy.
that was our star spotting for the day. lol.

k now for the more serious, soppy part of the post. bear with me.

i was going to post about this a little while back and kinda forgot
about it... but i was talking to fellow econodoggy vic hannan last
night on irc and decided to post about it now... no matter how much
of a dork it makes me sound like.... im really not a dork... honest!

i have come to the conclusion that powderfinger are the band to have
made the biggest impact on my life. im not talking about
inspirationally, or because of the way the music affects me (tho
it does do this). im talking physically. my life would be so
different if it wasnt for the powdy boys. i have made so many
friends through this mailing list and #powderfinger and #econodog
on irc. i have friends all over australia that i would never have
otherwise met. for the 2nd year in a row im spending new years
with econodogs vic (from adelaide) and liz (formerly of adelaide,
now a brissy resident). i just got back from a holiday in queensland
with econodogs jono (newcastle. just around the corner from my house
infact) and josh (sydney). met up with miss jess, sarah and dougie
while in brissy. econodog nicky c (cairns) is coming down to sydney
for the bdo... i get to see him for a week! :D then of course is the
fact that i met the only guy i have ever been inlove with on
#powderfinger on irc. these are only a few examples, there are
heaps more... and there are so many other friends i have made in
the same way to these ones i have mentioned...dont feel unloved
because i didnt mention u... its just that there are so many and
i forget who is on this mailing list and who isnt... and dont
want to forget anyone either. i realise this must make me sound
like the most sentimental computer geek. lol. but *meh* i dont
care, because i just want to say to the powdy boys:

THANKYOU FOR MY FRIENDS!! (to quote vic) *hug*

k, i promise in my next post i will be back to my cynical old
self and making weirdarse references that no one but a few
understand.

kudos,
kate (newcastle)

ps. bern, friends and i have been talking and we have decided
u need to go back to grunting and going *agh* in songs (a la
"rise up" 'You can die if you want, Right behind my back, You
can lie if you want, You're on the wrong track *agh*). we have
even taken to adding our own grunts when listening to the new
stuff. lol. so rock.

pps. jono, if u make one single smartarse comment to me about
this email i with punch u in the face :)

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and safe holidays to all.

Love the new filmclip; somewhat surprised Waiting For The Sun wasn't the
next single.

Pia,

i was there, i'm pretty sure it was 'one' that Bono dedicated to MH.

im sure someone will correct me on this [i had an idea it was 'wake
up dead man' but that seems unlikely]

it's a pity the video they put out for sale wasn't sydney [with
the rain and everything]
