hey everybody

i've just been looking at the setlists for a few of these gigs and i was
just thinking that there isn't some songs from oddessy on there that i
thought would be.. songs such as the metre (is this too soft to be played
live or is there too much other instruments) , up and down and back again..
i think that those 2 and thrillioligy are the best on the albumn

tom

p.s. any news of a tassie gig yet?

just an anecdotal story for you all... i was going to clock on at work
today [i work in a large discount department store that starts woth a 'k'
and ends in a 'mart'], and i have to walk thru the cds to get there. i
noticed that there were some cheap cds so after my shift i went to check
them out. after a bit of looking, i found 'the day you come' single. and
you'll never guess how much i got it for... no, you have to guess. ok, it
was $1. yes that is correct. but then you had to factor in the 7.5% staff
discount, so i actually got it for 92.5c. bargain. they had others like
leftfield and chemical bros and custard for 1.50. i got my sister a jebadiah
on for 75c [minus discount].
i still had a shitty day at work though....

Hi all,

firstly i'm mainly here to let Paul Stipack know his web server's screwed.
e-mail me.

just to make this Powdy related, i'd agree that the bogan factor was
definitely in the red at the newie gig. it felt like all the burnout crowd
from nobbys were having an after party or something. lots of peering over
people's heads, ducking limbs, etc. least i didn't get crushed this time.
But if you think that's weird, last time something for kate played at the
bar on the hill [not when they played with PF], it was excessively bogan
[?]. What is it about the uni and these guys? i must be doing an obscure
degree or something, cause they only come out at gigs. Thrilloilogy
[whatever] was sweeet. waiting for the sun also sweeet.
anyhoo, nice typin' to yas.

Well, what can I say, the boys were fantastic!
I absolutely loved it when Darren sang JC, and loved Private Man,
everyone was just awesome and getting into it all.
And the best oart was being told by Bernie that we were "about
100 times better than last night", meaning the first Adelaide gig,
hehe.Had lots of laughs and enjoyed it heaps, thanks you guys!!!!!!

Subject: I met the 'Finger!

Hi guys,
i went to the Powderfinger concert at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on the
16th Oct. Firstly, i'd just like to say how AWESOME the concert was.
Powderfinger are my fave band, and the concert went off. I pissed off all
my friends and family for about a week before the concert by constantly
reminding them that there were only 5 ...4... 3... .... 0 Sleeps to go!! I
had been looking forward to the concert for months, and was in only one
small way disappointed ("Capoicity" and "Up and Down and Back Again"
weren't played, but was later told by Bernie that "Up and Down and Back
Again" was being saved 'until next time'; BDO- I CAN'T WAIT). So
basically, they ROCK! Literally

I just wanted to make it well-known how f!#@in' excellent these guys are,
both as musicians and as people. Not only were they more than happy to give
autographs, but they stuck around for a little while and had a chat to
those who hung around for an hour and a half after the concert to meet the
guys! They were such awesome guys. And these days you'll find that alot of
bands (or celebs in general) think they're too far above every one else to
stop and talk to those that make them famous (aside from them and their
brilliance!). If it is at all possible, i love this band even more now!

Cheers,

Jo Thom

Hi my name is Winnie, i just rejoined the list after a long
hiatus so i thought i'd introduce myself again. Ok let's see,
I'm 18, I come from sydney and have been a Powderfinger fan
since internationalist came out. Since then i've been lucky
enough to see them live twice so far, first at homebake,
(amazing experience, i think they may have played happiness
then, can anyone confirm this?) and most recently at enmore
on the 15th. Amazing gig as well, they played practically all
my fave songs even private man, great to see darren sing JC.

I was wondering if anyone knew the setlist for that gig and
also what was written in the credits at the end.

Besides Powderfinger my other faves include Elliott Smith,
the Eels, Grandaddy and the Beatles.

bye
Winnie

WOW is the only word to describe the perth powdie gig
at uwa

first up we had autopilot who warmed up the crowd
nicely and were quoted "we are very very very very
happy to be here supporting the best band in
australia"

then we had weta who im afraid to say made the crowd
angry and possibly rather over excited. they came on
like the were heros and no one was liking it. they
spat on the crowd and generally sucked.

no magic dirt, what happened there i dont know

then came the boys, and werent they fucking brilliant
so full of energy and fantastic music
bernie said that perth gigs are always the biggest and
possibly the best gig they have had all tour
isnt that great for perthies, but mebbe he says that
everywhere he goes, who knows?

bernie recognised me from the airport ealier in the
arvo (as i posted before :))

anyway here is the setlist, which i managed to get a
copy of - woohoo to the security guard, what a champ

Waiting for the sun
Celebrity head
Dont wanna be left out
Day you come
Already Gone
My happiness
Private man

We Should be together now
Like a dog
Odysseus No. 5

Subject: Rock-it, John Collins u rock.
Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2000 12:36:13 GMT

Firstly I would like to say, to all those people out there who have said
that Powderfinger have lost their rock style, go see them live.

Yesterday (Sunday 22nd Oct) I saw the boys perform at Rock-it in Perth. To
say that they went off would be an understatement. I’m sure anyone who was
there would agree.

A special mention now if I may to John Collins. At the start of
Powderfinger’s second or third song a large section of the mosh pit fell
over. We were all about 3m from Bernie and John was behind him. Around 20
people must have fallen and I was stuck at the bottom. Guys around me tried
to pull me out and if they read this thank you but I was stuck. Eventually
people started lifting people up and myself and a friend of mine were last
up. Bernie said “everybody up?” and the crowd roared and we gave a
customary thumbs up. I then looked across to John who was pointing at me
and was saying what I worked out to be “you guys alright there?” I simply
gave him a thumbs up and he returned the thumbs up with “you sure?” and I
nodded several times with my thumb still raised. Thanks John!

After several falls Bernie appealed to the crowd to go (quote) “up and down,
not down to the ground please” (unquote).

All I can say is what a great band these guys are to care about there fans
musically and for there safety at gigs.

Subject: Arias what a blow out

well well well what can u say...nothing thats what!! a
big fat nothing. Im sorry but we are so angry that
powderfinger did not recieve the proper recognition
that they deserve at the arias we all know that they
deserve it more than anyone , especially more than
MADISON AVENUE common!!!!! We are in shock and
devistation here but if its any concellation we all
think the boys rock.
Oh yeah and the adelaide concert ( 1st one on the
19th) kicked ass more than anything in this world, the
boys looked slightly tired but thats to be expected.
The crowd was awesome, the band was awesome what else
do u need =). I am happy to say that not one show i
have been to has been disappointing *on ya guyz*.

luv always
kimba and kels

p.s sorry if we offended any madison avenue fans out
there but then if we all agreed on everything life
would be shithouse boring!!!
p.p.s not happy about killing heidi!!!!!!! sorry
