Hey there,

I too would love for Powderfinger to tour the US this year. I've been living
in Los Angeles for the past year for uni and really miss seeing the guys in
concert. I haven't even got the latest copy of their new CD! So help me out,
come and play at least ONE gig in LA. You'd have a great time, people would
come, and you'd be loved. The Whitlams did it last year (they played at the
Troubadour in West LA) for one show only and it was awesome. So please come
to LA!

Thanks,

Justine
p.s. hi Rebel, didn't know you were still in Canberra. what's up?

hey there fellow doggies,

well i thought i should post re the newcastle uni powdy gig.

1stly let me say that newcastle must have the highest bogan per
capita ratio. my god! how had i never noticed it b4! but the
gig was great nevertheless. and thanks bernie for the sympathetic
look during 'day you come' when the two burly guys on the barrier
next to me decided they were going to bond to that song and started
acting like spastics waving their arms wildly and screaming as loud
as they could in their drunken voices. lol.

actually the gig was pretty wild. bernie commented that every
time they came to newcastle they knew the crowd would be a bit
mental. i guess thats expected when u cram around 2600 people
into one room... a high percentage of them pissed. cue crowd
surfing. lol

anyways the boys were awesome... prolly the best i have seen
them... maybe. i dunno. its too hard a decision. here is the
setlist.... btw if anyone wants a scan of the setlist for their
website or any other reason gimme a yell... its bernies. lol.
if that makes some kind of difference.

waiting for the sun
celebrity head
dont wanna be left out
the day you come
already gone
my happiness
private man
belter
we should be together now
like a dog
odysseus no. 5 (introduced as odyssey no 5 take 4... does that
mean it is actually odyssey no. 8?? lol)
jc (dz on vox)
my kind of scene
good day ray
daf
passenger
----------------------------
these days (cue crowd going more sick than they did all night)
thrilloilogy (how absolutely amazing is this song live?!?!?!
and i loved the real heavy rock feel at the end. go those guitars!!)

oh and joel, cogsy had on ur navy blue econodog shirt that u gave
him. :D the doggies didnt get a mention, but the shirt was there.

another point of interest. after the gig i was hanging round in
the corridoor whille dz chatted to some friends. he mentioned
that the band have actually attempted once to play the b-side
'mains' from the 'living type' single. that cracked me up. i
dont know if he meant they tried to play the entire song or
just the middle part with the lyric '2, 4, 6, 8 infiltrate.
2, 4, 6, 8 dominate.' anyways he said it didnt work. lol.
i think if i had to choose any powdy song to see them do live
it would be that one. its just so insane and sounds like they
r having so much fun!

k well i guess thats prolly about it from moi... long post i know.
going now
kate

ps skulker and magic dirt were great. never b4 have i been
able to say i enjoyed a magic dirt gig... or maybe it was just
because the venue was buzzing in anticipation of powdy.

hey, my name's kerrie, but everyone just calls me kezz. i've been meaning to
join this for ages as my sister is on the list [hey kaz...]
i'm from sydney and i'm 22. i've only seen powderfinger live twice as
finances have been non existant until now. so it was at homebake that i
first saw them, though i've liked them since '95 when a girl at school
started talking about them! i suppose internationalist is my fav record,
though i gotta say, odessy no. 5 is pretty bloody good! i love 'waitng for
the sun' and 'private man'.

i think that's all i have to say at the moment. so another big 'hey' to all
of you!

Short and sweet SYD review

Date/s: 14th ( Sat)and 16th( Mon) shows( missed Sun)
Venue: Enmore Theatre, Syd.
( A mainly seating venue- looks and feels like the Cinemas)

PF onstage: Approx 9:45pm kicking off with "Waiting for the sun",
the setlist I'm sure many of you familiar with. I've noticed they've
been playing 9 ON5 songs ( all but The Metre and Up & Down), 8
Intern..songs and 1 from DA and 1 Bside.
Special editions include:
SAT- Nature boy and DAF
SUN- Dz's solo of JC ( Damn, missed that!!)
MON- Living type and That Ol' Track!!! ( woohoo!!)

Highlight/s: Continual flow of songs, Cogsy's powerful drumming
( esp Celebrity Head intro) and Bern's beautiful voice... ( guitars
and bass- love the bass- not requiring mention here)

Best live songs: ON5 songs played live are incredible...in particular?-
Like a dog ( love the Pre-chorus funk-y-esque), Whatever makes you
happy and Thrilloilogy ( fucking awesome)

Lowlight: nothing to do with the band- only criticism; the crowd
on Sat night- many "poles"- ie, ppl who show absolutely NO
energy/emotion by standing on the Dancefloor around us. TAKE
NOTE Econos: Get your shit together and buy your tix early next
time ( to get on the floor!)!

Verdict: 5 (/5) STARS. Great fucking value for money ( makes you
worry when the merchandise cost more than your tix hey?) and just
what I needed to detox the brain for these final year exams!
( goodluck to those doing 'em)

What's left of the ON5 tour, you Econos KEEP TRUCKING!

Mai

***** many thanks to you NUTS ( U guys know who U R!) for the laughs
and fun....and dancing techniques :)
