To all you who missed out, I feel your pain. Bernard and Haugie were at
"Mazinai's" in Perth last Thursday night. It was open door, and (even
better) free drinls, put on by their wonderful record company. I've said it
before and i'll say it again, they are top blokes. I witnessed them
socialise with everyone in the room, they were very excited about the album
release. Only 52 days till the Perth show........

Econodogs,
Long time lurker, first time poster - etcetera
I don't usually have anything that revolutionary to offer, but I had to
put in a word in concerning the apparent 'devil incarnate'. I'm referring to
Clarkers.
You people went sick, and I'm sure you thought you were 'being passionate'
and 'standing up for what you believe in', but gimme a fucking break.
Did any of you actually *read* what he wrote? All that shite about him
being pig-headed and cunty - I've never laid eyes on such blatant baseless
slander before.
I don't usually stand up and speak for anyone, but I've had a bad day and
some people are apparently unintelligent. I'm underaged, I've never seen a
gig in my entire existance, and that's not likely to change for almost 6
months - wherein I'll be permitted into most gigs *in the eyes of the law*!
And that was his point, I think. I don't think he was advocating alcohol
as a way of life, nor was he slandering underagers. He was citing the way of
the world, and a whole bunch of wankers misread it and thought they'd take a
chance to have a rant and come off as someone 'not to be fucked with.'
Give it a fucking rest. We're all apparently open-minded people.
P.

Subject: New to the list!
Hi everyone,
Being a newcomer to the list, I'd just like to
say hello & introduce myself. I'm a 23 yr old uni
student from Brisbane, currently doing my final year
of a law degree. Basically, Powderfinger's music is
what has kept me sane and inspired me throughout five
long years of this bastard degree.
I have followed the band for about the last 6 years
but only recently decided to do something about my
love for their music and join the fan club & this
mailing list (which I found on the econodog site).
It's a hard task to pick a single fave song or album,
but I am particularly partial to 'skinny jean', 'boing
boing', 'passenger' and 'capoicity'. And what I've
heard so far off the new album is awesome as well.
Best live gig would have to be Livid '97 (could've
been '98 - memory fails me) or any of the incognito
performances.
That's all for now - thankx for your time.
Eliza.

Hey there everyone,
Listen, i got my new Juice Magazine today (oh yeah, girl with subscription)
and guess who's on the cover dressed in sexy MIB style attire but our very
own powderfinger. And, to my surprise and delight a handy little sample cd
featuring the lads. It has 3 dittys; a dj silence remix of Whatever Makes
You Happy, John Callaghan, It's Not My Kinda Scene and a screen saver (great
for all us internet nerds, dont denigh it).
In addition, i'd like to add my two cents to this ongoing underage debate
(god hope it doesnt last as long as the whole Pearl Jam debarcle). I know it
seems really unfair to deprive us under 18's of even one powderfinger gig,
but com'on thats what childhood innocence is all about. We're meant to face
these hurdles, they build character! Our personalities are structure around
the way we deal with things like this and our attitude to facing adversity.
Without these kinds of rules where would some of the worlds best
bullshitters be? I'm not saying that the whole thing doesnt suck, but, our
time will come. Things are far more interesting with provisos, so deal with
it.
Claire
P.S. Now i wanna hear about all the people that got in reguardless

No sooner had I bitched and moaned about missing out on tickets and
seen my outburst printed here in the digest, that a little email from
the powderfinger.net fanclub appears on my computer and tells me that
a couple of new shows announced for Melbourne. Happy Days.

Unfortunately I have been off in the world of gypsys and wasnt
quick enough to grab tickets for the powderfinger concerts in
Brissy - so if anyone from that region who for some strange
mysterious reason finds that they cannot go, could they please
get in contact with me if they need to get rid of tix.
Thanks!!!

Subject: Guess What?
Date: Thu, 31 Aug 2000 22:43:34 EST
Hey everyone!
I know your all probably a bit sick of this by now, but guess what? I'm
only 17 and I live in Canberra, and pf are doing 18+ here. But I'm going
anyway. And if I don't get in, I've got a ticket for Sydney too. I know
why everyone's pissed, and sure, you've got a right to be. But it's not
necessarily the bands or the managements fault. I'm pretty sure the only
decent(ish) venue in Canberra just doesn't do underage gigs anymore, cause
they lost their license or they're fuckwits, or something. So don't go
shouting at Powderfinger, for being greedy, think about it practically.
They're doing plenty of underage gigs anyway, Rock It in Perth, all the
Sydney gigs, one in Melbourne and I think one in Brissie. And if you are
overage- don't you remember how pissed off you were when you had to miss
out?
Cheers, Cassidy
P.S If you're 17 and have a drivers license (although i think it might be 18
in other places?) just show that to the security guards. They rarely check
the age, usually just the photo, and maybe the year. But when they've got
3000 people to get through the door, they're generally not too careful. just
don't push your luck by drinking.
PPS. The other thing you can do is get a friend who is 18 to give you one
off their bank statements, and birth certificate, say you lost your wallet
and get an ID with their name and details on it. If you get caught
though.....watch out!
PPPS Sorry to anyone who takes offence to this, but hey, hundreds of kids
will be doing it anyway.
**If I had no friends, I'd have no-one to ridicule**

Hi guys and gals,
My 2nd post on here and this one has been a long time coming. Will keep
this short, as i just finished watching the joint on channel V... 200th
episode. You Am I played live...pretty cool....but the reason i am posting
here is that in the september edition of JUICE magazine, powderfinger find
themselves on the front page & also with a bonus cd :)) So go out and rush
to your newspaper shops and buy them quick.
Just another thing, i am pretty proud that i have my tickets for the 3rd
show in Sydney!! Well I will be off to europe on the 11th so i prolly wont

Hi all
just thought i'd let some of you know, if you didnt already,
www.juice.net have made a "mini" website of the PF lads, and
it's looking mighty impressive if you ask me!!
There are some great pics up, a comprehensive look on the band-
thru the years and there's even a screen saver- Nice pic their
too- love the black 'penquin' suits.
As for more powdy pics, check out Janet's parables website
which has some recent pics taken by myself and Jodie at the
JJJ unearthed gig. the only accompanying review to that very
early morning: " Fucking awesome" :)
Congrats to Pf on their upcoming SELL OUT tour, looks as tho
this short ten date tour has turned into a "real" one. They try
to please us dont they?- see you all there in Syd
cheers, Mai
ps, and if this comes out before fri night, PF on Ground zero and
hosting Rage on Saturday ( 2nd of Sept)...tune your VCRS.

How's Everybody?
We've been busy - 3 digests in 5 days! Well, I have a lot of mindless
dribble to tell you all about, so here goes: bought the CD single - it is
great, saw the filmclip - it is great also. The look on Ian's face as the
slinky goes out the window is priceless! And if the Coffee & TV filmclip is
the one with the milk cartons, then My Happiness definately reminds me of
that filmclip (Why did the clip take so long to make it to TV?).
I ALSO GOT MY TICKET TO THE NEWCASTLE UNI GIG THE DAY AFTER THE TIX WENT ON
SALE!! After reading about how quickly the tix in Sydney/Melbourne sold out,
I was worried I would miss out as I didn't go to uni until after work on
Tuesday afternoon. But I got it - and only $25! So see everyone there!
I am also hoping Newcastle is not classified as non-city, as I don't want to
wait an extra day for Oddessey No 5.
I also thought you may want to know I was skiing at Thredbo last weekend -
and it didn't stop snowing!
Question: Does anyone think there will be four singles off the new album -
being an "Oddessey" b side on each up until Oddessey Number 5, which is an
the album.
I'm having a great week - I even decided not to do my uni assessment last
night. But I'll have an even better one next week!
Until next time,
Daniel

Subject: pow: an old idea revamped!!
Hey,
I was thinking in my hungovered state at work today that it would be really
good to get that covers cd thing going again. By this I mean Riley's idea
back 2 years ago but with a difference! For the benefit of relatively newer
econo's this idea was to get a bunch of demos together by econodogs of
covers of pf. Only the twist here is it musn't be the same as the original
(by this I mean sounds like you just ripped the guys off and it sounds
exactly the same but not as good ;p) By this I mean do something creative
with the song be it diff. instruments or style of backing music or even an
instrumental with a difference!! Have a stew on that and if anyone is
interested email me at the above addy and we can work something out. It will
be an econodog cover cd with a difference ;p There need not be any technical
recording gizmos involved.......you could even go record yourself in the
bathroom (better accoustics there anyway ;p) I'd like for this to be big so
if you wanna be involved think of some songs you think you could make even
better (obviously only pf ones!!) and email me ;p it would be put onto cd
and given out to econodogs that would be interested.
So get off those lazy netarses of yours and send me that email!
Janet
