I've been a silent member of the econodogs for a while now and a few things
others have written have pissed me off, but none more so than the letter
that "Clarkers" wrote about us "underagers".
"What a load...look at it this way - it's just something you have to be
patient with. It's like alcohol...there are, without a doubt, millions of
underaged beings who'd love to be able to waltz into any old pub and get
maggoted, but it's something you have to wait for, and you don't have an
immediate right to it just coz you're a fan. It's exactly the same regarding
bands and gigs...I'm 19 now, and I'm glad to have earned my place in the
scheme of gigdom, and yada yada yada and etcetera...I wanted to see Custaro,
the Powdies, the Whitlams, desperately when I was younger, but I accepted
that it doesn't work like that. Whining underagers should, too."
You state that you know you're going to get a load of crap thrown your way -
well here you are. If all the shit you said above about you waiting etc is
true then you are either some weird person or you're shooting crap through
your teeth.
Naturally we're going to be pissed off that the band that sings us all to
sleep at night is having a concert that we aren't allowed to attend. And I
don't wish to be allowed to go into a pub and buy whatever I want, sure it'd
be cool, but please, how accessible is alcohol anyway?
It's lovely that you've "earned" your place in in the "scheme of gigdom" but
do us "whining" underagers really give a toss? NO! All we care about is
seeing our beloved finger.
And it is more than the money! As if it's not! Do you have any idea how many
underagers love bernie and the boys?? obviously you don't! Bull shit they
would be denying themselves and incredible amount of money if the gig was -
and is - for under 18's. sure they'd lose a couple of bucks, but what is
more valuable? a couple of bucks that you'll end up wasting? or fans who
will always support you?
So pull your head in Clarkers. I am all for expressing your opinion, and
it's gotta take guts to say what you said. But please, get over yourself. We
are just as important as you are, and powderfinger is for all, not just 19
year olds who have earned their place
underage, whining and proud of it,
Goose.

Brendan, don't you think it is you who is being *slightly* closed-minded? I
mean, really, pull it together, mate. Life isn't all about the drink
(although...I am a *tad* blotto at this point in time...). At any rate, when
I'm over 18 I'll probably say the same narrow-minded, selfish cunty bullshit
as you so I shouldn't complain.. Goodnight all...

Hey Doggies,
This is my first posting, I've been reading what everyone has been saying
for awhile however, can't wait for the new albumn, the Real Audio Clips on
the new website make the albumn sound pretty promising.
Someone said something about its "unfair" that Powderfinger aren't playing
all ages gigs. I'm 18, and I've missed out on many concerts (which have come
to Hobart...so thats not many...). All I can say to this is that its just
life, you can bitch and moan as much as you want but everyone has gone
through it and people will continue to go through it. Hey, be thankful, at
least for most of you, the band is going to your state!
Shannon
P.S. For all you Tassie people out there who missed the Launy concert last
year, you missed a great day

howdy
well as we are all aware, a lot of ppl are
disappointed about the lack of underage concerts the
boys are doing. well i mite just have some good news
for some w.a. fans neway.
anyone under 18 can buy tickets to an overage gig, its
at the door that u have to prove your age. buuuuuuut i
managed to get into 3 overage gigs when i was 16 and
17. if u are underage it maybe possible to take an
overage guidian to escort u at the gig. i was able to
do this twice because a security guard had told me how
they operate. now this was only possible at less
strict venues like belvoir ampitheatre where the
licence for alcohol is not really gunna be
jeopardised.
gigs like the 2 at the lookout nite club were way more
strict but it was kinda lucky that i had fake i.d.
so yer try that and see how u go coz it worked for me
and a couple of my mates

Hey all!
This is mainkly directed to Brendan Clarkson who's own narrowmindedness,
pigheadedness, obnoxious and arrogant post really pissed me off!
Firstly, all us underages aren't saying "don't have an overages gig", but
why not have both an overages AND all ages? I think, as Emma in the last
post pointed out (onya Emma) that because Perth is a capital city of
Australia and that it is quite a way to come for just one show (that
excludes many eager fans) it seems ridiculous not to have more than one.
You know Brendan, saying "you;ll just have to wait untill you're older" is
such a passive and pathetic thing to say and unlike you, i'm not going to
stand aside and accept the unfairness because "that's the way it is". What
happened to fighting for your rights.
You should get some balls and stop thinking of yourself now that you're
overage- it doesn't make you some kind of GOD!
And yeah, isn't it more than the money? That is directed at you Brendan
because you seem to support the managements view about that!!!
Gee thanx alot.
from a "whining, "narrow-minded" underager

If anyone happened to be watching the Pepsi chart on sunday they might have
noticed that in the top ten countdown - My Happiness was at No 4 (!!!!!) but
they played the clip from My kind of Scene. Have no idea if the music was
the right song as I had the volume down.
Trust Channel 10 to get it wrong!

Hello Doggies : )
Last Thursday (I think it was) I was in the powderfinger web chat on
Channel [V]. I really wanted to ask about the lack of underage shows this
tour because I know a lot of underage people in Melbourne, Perth, etc are
really disappointed. i am too : ( but someone else got in first and asked
for me.
they replied that *there will be an extensive tour early next year*
ok...so it doesn't make up for it but there's something to look forward to,
right?
Through the course of the chat Ian and Bernie also mentioned they are going
to LA, New York and maybe San Francisco this September. They would love to
tour with U2, and in 20 years they see themselves at the end of a pension
queue in social security(!?) ok then...
To anyone at one of the shows...if you get any good photos of the guys
(onstage or off, doesn't matter) could you send me a scanned pic please? I'd
appreciate it. Thanks : )
see ya next time
*sarah*
