Subject: disappointment
Hi everyone,
Whilst I am overage and have been for a year and a half, I am disappointed
to see that as usual powderfinger are not doing any underage shows, well at
least their are none listed on their site.
From what I can tell and just judging by the diversity of ages on this
list, fans of powderfinger are all ages and should have gigs offered to
them accordingly if the band are doing a tour. I could be wrong but I am
pretty sure the last Victorian all age gig was in august 97, far to long ago.
Anyway I hope someone from powderfinger is reading and realize's the market
and opportunity they are denying themselves at the very least.
Nicola.

That's for sure. They still have cool guitar stuff happening
though....listen to it in MKS...and the cool sound in My Happiness!!!
Thay said stuff like that in an interview I read.
>Compare those songs to the like of Parables and you see the

Parables is alot more rough and 'complicated'. In Parables, though, you can
still see the 'newer' aspect of the band in tracks such as Sink low and Save
Your Skin. According to them, Odyssey No. 5 still has rock songs on it
:)......I think MKS and My Happiness is still rockin just in a different
way, kinda like Pick You Up......"this song ranges from ballad to heavey
metal" BF......do you get what I mean? I LOVE the old stuff but I also LOVE
the new stuff.....it's all FANTASTIC......just different aspects :)
> My opinion anyway. I'd be interested to know if anyone else agrees.
Yeah, I agree with you :) As you can tell.
What do people think of the b-sides (other than MKS) on My Happiness?
I like them....different still, these boy's are just so diverse....more
heavier then MKS and My Happines. See ppl they still have the rock :)
Anyway's got to go.
emily :)

I saw one of powderfingers new video clips the other day, I can't remember
if it was 'my happiness' but it showed bernie in a car and the car spinning
out. It was pretty cool.

Subject: Econo Digest's are sorta dying here
Hello Econos,
Wow... not much happening here now that the pf.net
discussion has taken flight hey. Come one people lets
get back into the digest too!!!
Pop and Rock- ok I have to have a say (Coz I always
do) I say yeah they're an 'ALTERNATIVE BAND'... When
you go into a CD store and you decide 'Hey I'm gonna
look for Powderfinger now' you dont waddle over to the
Pop section do you? No, we go to the 'Alternative'
section-thats the beauity of 'Alternative' music you
cant really classify it. It is where bands go that you
cant really put into one section so it's
'Alternative', the name makes sence people.
OK well.. yeah go 'Nature Boy' that song is my new
fave of pf's, it is fantastic!
See ya's now
-Kerry.

Subject: My Happiness Single n stuff ya bastards
hiya doggies,
well ive been quiet for way too long... surprising i know, to those of
u who know me.
anyhoo, finally had the time to get the 'my happiness' single today.
a bargain at $4.95. 'my happiness' has really grown on me after the
couple of proper listens i have had of it. i wasnt impressed from
what i had heard on the radio. i thought it was too soft. and im
sick of bands going soft on us (tho we wont go into that again will
we? ). but maybe im just a cynical bastardi. anyhoo i like it now.
its emotional... and i generally like emotional.
of course the next track is 'my kind of scene.' i still dun really
like this song. but yer... at least i know have a legitimate copy
rather than a nasty evil napster d/l version (but we wont go into
that again either will we?)
next track is 'nature boy.' the boys have chucked a few 'rock
chords' into this one. bit heavier than what we have been used
to of late from the boys (yay). this track is growing on me.
lastly is the demo version of odyssey #1. this is my fav track
on the single. love this one! atmospheric rock at its best.
if this is only a demo i wanna hear the album version! i just
hope the album isnt overproduced, as many seem to be now.
oh yeah and i dont mean to sound bitchy... but what is it with
the tix prices for the powdy gigs?? this is coming from a
person who is planning on not only going the newie gig, but
the sydney one at the enmore aswell. how can they justify
those prices with the support acts they r performing? i mean
magic dirt? ack. they rnt exactly up there with the callibre
of supports we r used to from powdy. someone suggested that
they thought augie may have supported. im not surprised that
they arent, cuz when those guys click they can blow any band
off the stage... not something a headlining act wants on their
conscience. so yer... powdy better have a bloody big production
planned if they want poor students to fork that sort of hard
earned cash over.
k well i guess thats the end of my rant. back to the mundane
existence that is my life. anyone wanna do my assigments for
me? im sure someone out there must find partial differentials
and transport phenomina of fluids interesting.
farewell,
kate (aka fluttrgrl aka sourgirl aka GrlOfPorn. thats gonna be
my new nic for u irc fanatics. and b4 u get grotty, its after
the mr bungle song 'Girls of Porn' not cause im a porn star or
some shite like that. lets see how many disgusting pervs msg
me now. lol)
ps. powdy r featured in the new 'australian guitar' mag. ian and
dz r on the cover. love dz's new hairdo! very spiffy!
delusional i believed i could cure it all for you dear

Heya guys,
Just a quick post to encourage any of you who are in SE Queensland to get
along early to the Powderfinger shows so you can catch another up and coming
Brisbane outfit. Hudson Lowboy have been around the place for a few (dozen)
years under different names and are more than able to fill the 3rd slot on
the bill. So don't decide that you need not arrive until just before powdy,
get there early and support a little aussie battler, I'm sure they won't
dissapoint.
So know doubt, we'll see some of you at whichever show we attend, although
we did only just see them in Byron Bay, too much can never be enough. Can
it? I'm sure that its going to be a GREAT audience, not unlike the gomez
crowd earlier in the year. See some of you soon!
Have fun all,
Aveta
