Hibbing Jubilee Street Dance
6 bands, 3 stages, 7 hours of music. Copper played during the first set of the street dance Saturday, July 12. The two new albums were also pre-released during the show (our thanks to all who bought). Copper was slated for a 5 to 7:30 show but at 4:30ish the weather took a turn for the worse and typhooned the area. The delay lasted until around quarter to 6. Then Copper took the stage and played. and played. and continued to play until they could play no more. The music lasted without a single set break until 8:30. Thanks to all who came out to party with us.

412 again
Copper returned to Hibbing to play the 412 again, this time during the weekend between Christmas and New Years. Shows were Friday and Saturday night 9 to 1 a.m. Once again, it was two nights filled with Copper originals and many cover songs. The first set Friday night was done acoustic with versions of Artifice, Fork in the Road, and Before included in the set.
412
Copper made their first headlined weekend at the 412. A onetime goal of a young high school band, Copper showed up in full force and delivered as much rock as they had. The band played Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night to the late summer crowd. A total of 12 hours between the three days. It was the most difficult and the most rewarding experience the band has dealt with thus far. You name it original or cover and Copper played it maybe even a couple times. The highlight was a performance of a song that hadn't been played in well over 5 years, "Cheez Whiz".
What's up opening act
Wayne Staley and the Infinite Madness played the What's Up in late August and Copper was there to open the show. The gig lasted about an hour and a half and included all of the bands hardest rock material. Chris played the entire set drunk and Rich was looking stunning in a dress. An interesting night to say the least.
Oleander
In July, Copper played an acoustic set at Mankato's Oleander. At 10ish they took the small stage in the corner of the bar and played an upbeat set including This Great Life, Artifice, and Hope. The show was topped off, as usual, with Naked.

The usual Choppers sunday night gigs, a couple acoustic open mic performances at the Jazz Club.

Choppers opening act
Copper openned for the local act Wayne Staley and the Infinite Madness at Choppers. They hit the stage early, earlier than most were able to come. For those who did make it in time for the 9:00 set, the band rocked hard and long. Thanks for coming and supporting the music.
Choppers sunday
A couple of weeks following the first show at the Jazz Club, Copper made their first of what would become a regular gig on Sunday night at Choppers in Mankato. The band played a usual set, lasting about an hour. Good times.
Jazz Club
Copper played their first show in Mankato, MN in October at the Jazz Club. The set was an hour long and the band closed down the house, going on at around midnight.
Relay for Life benefit show
Late August was the setting for the Annual Relay for Life benefit at Bennett Park in Hibbing. Copper was asked to perform in the evening at the outdoor amphitheater. John sang an acoustic song earlier in the day at the openning ceremonies. The band went on at 9ish and played 2 sets to a very receptive crowd. Afterwards, the members hung out and took part in some of the events until the wee hours of the morning. It was Coppers final show before their relocation to Mankato, MN. Thanks to the organizers for the invite and the wonderful crowd that made the evening special.
Private Party
The band played for a graduation party for a friend of the bassist in July. It was a nice, intimate setting that Copper took advantage of. The music was loud and raw and the band played for a good 2 hours. It was a nice chance to practice some new things on some new people.
Battle of the Bands
Copper was selected for the second straight year to compete at the WTBX Battle of the Bands. This years competition was located in Grand Rapids, MN at the Rendesvous II. 8 bands competed on 2 nights. Copper got to close the show on the first night. This was Copper's first show without Joe. The setlist included G.O., Untitled, Miss World, and of course the show closer Naked in the Rain. The band recieved an encore and broke out a little Picnics. Thanks to WTBX and the great audience turnout.
Battle of the Bands FINALS NIGHT
The finals night had arrived and Copper had been chosen to compete. The house was packed and Copper got the draw to perform 2nd. The setlist was similar to the prelims, with the addition of Words Can Say(the reggae rock song). The band enjoyed the night and the crowd. Thanks for all of the Copper supporters who turned out for the event.
Irongate Mall
The new lineup! The band debuted Rich Templin on Friday at On-Cue at the Irongate Mall in Hibbing. For the first time in Copper's history, the band had four members on stage. Joe and John split vocal duties. The show went off smooth, with many new songs getting their first taste of an audience. Thanks to On-Cue for the space and all who came to share the music.

Copper played at this years WTBX battle of the bands on July 2.
A good sized crowd was on hand to enjoy the event. We took the stage about mid way through the event. We opened with Naked in the Rain and closed the show with a unique version of This Great Life. Thanks to all of the Copper supporters who showed up to make the gig worthwhile.

Copper performed at Vesli for their fourth consecutive year on August 15. There was a smaller than usual crowd on hand because of the rain. The rain also caused many of the bands on uncovered stages to pull out of the festival. Copper ended up playing for around 3 hours.
Copper played for the Tara Millard Benefit on February 11 at the Hibbing Community College. We opened for the band Plaid and got a little over an hour of stage time. We opened with Comedown and finished with Smells Like Teen Spirit as usual. We debuted two of our newest songs: Artifice and Blank Sheet. There was a smaller crowd on hand but it was still fun to get out and play.

The Colloseum
Copper preformed at the Colloseum in Hibbing, Minnesota on August 28. We played for four hours which put us through almost all of our material. It was a small crowd but we enjoyed it all the same. We even tried some new stuff that turned out pretty good.
Vesli '98
Copper played at the music festival in Vesli, Minnesota for the third year in a row. The event took place in August and Copper got the main stage. We preformed for three hours and really got in to the preformance. The crowd was awesome. It rivaled the first preformance at Vesli for being the best Vesli crowd ever. We started the show with Comedown and finished with Smells like Teen Spirit before playing several extra songs since we just couldn't leave such a great crowd.
The Spot
Copper performed a show at The Spot in Hibbing on April 24. It was our first preformance of 98. We were full of energy coming into the preformance and it showed in the music. We were jumping around and dancing with the crowd all evening. It was a fun little venue to kick off our 98 season. We started off with Comedown and finished as always with Smells Like Teen Spirit. We got some good reactions from the crowd throughout the evening and got three hours of playing time.

Bandarama '97
Copper was recently in the bandarama '97 which was located at the Hibbing Memorial Arena. The first night Saturday, we walked on stage with paper fast food hats on and opened the show with Comedown. That really seemed to get the crowd into it. Then we went with the following playlist:
Back to School Fest
Copper opened for a Back to School Fest at the Masonic Temple in Hibbing. There was a fair sized crowd on hand and Copper played about an hour of music. We opened with Comedown and closed with Teen Spirit. The audience wasn't quite as energetic as we had hoped but all in all it was fun.
Vesli Hodown
Copper played their second consecutive year at the Vesli Hodown. We played three one hour sets. All of us were kind of drained that day but we put that beside and went nuts. There was a good size crowd on hand to start the festival off and we had a pretty good time. We opened the show with House of the Rising Sun and closed with Teen Spirit. We had fun as usual and got to play almost our whole playlist.
Grad Party
Copper played for a graduation party in Pengilly. We had a great time. It was a real layed back experience and it gave us the freedom to try out some new material. We played until dusk and then partied with the crowd. It was a really fun experience.

Copper's Concert
Copper had a chance to hold a concert organized by themselves at the Orthodox Reception Hall in Hibbing. We had a local band Allusion open for us. This was a great opportunity for us to play for our friends and relatives. There was a pretty good turn out. We were expecting a few more but the amount we had made for an overall enjoyable night.
Vesli Hodown
Copper played at Vesli for the first time. It felt awsome in front of the crowd. We had a chance to try out our new equipment and really have a good time. We had two one hour sets and the crowd really got into some of the stuff we did. Over all it was a great experience and a fun day.
Copper's Concert
Copper had a chance to do their own show in Hibbing. It was a pretty small affair with mainly family and a few friends but it was good to be able to play some music for and audience. We played for about an hour and had fun.
