The Order of Eastern Star, Ida Chapter #546 was founded in March 2001 in South Holland, Illinois.

The degrees of the Order of the Eastern Star teach lessons of fidelity, constancy, loyalty, faith and love. They are presented in a beautiful ritualistic ceremony designed to not only teach the lessons, but also to portray the noble principles which should adorn the personal lives of Eastern Star members. Eastern Star strives to take good people and through uplifting and elevating associations of love and service, and through precept and example, build an Order which is truly dedicated to charity, truth and loving kindness. These degrees are presented in a beautiful ritualistic ceremony designed to not only teach the lessons, but also to provide insight for future study and understanding.

The stated purposes of the organization are: Charitable, Educational, Fraternal, and Scientific.  Ida Chapter elect their own charities and places of service in their respective communities and has proudly support and volunteer with feeding the homeless at Fairfield Baptist Church and volunteer services at Chicago Cares, Sunny Rehabilitation Center and South Holland Jets.

The Eastern Star is also a social organization with frequent formal events and ceremonies. Being a member is a wonderful and a fulfilling way of life. The Order of the Eastern Star is a Masonically-related fraternity of women and men dedicated to charity, truth and loving kindness. This Order was conceived, written and taught by a Master Mason to provide a place where both men and women could work and serve side by side. This fraternal Order is comprised of people with deep religious convictions and spiritual values. It is open to all faiths. The membership is admonished to aid, comfort and protect each other by sharing the joys and sorrows of life. The rewards are many as members work and play together in love and charity and become life long friends, sisters and brothersIt is now the largest Fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women belong.
