OEGE Social Club Constitution
Article I
General Club Information
Section 1
The name of this organization shall be
the OEGE Social Club. The letters OEGE mean:
O......Obedience
E......Earnestness
G......Godliness
E......Efficiency
Section 2
Motto
Good, better, best
Never let it rest
Until the good is better
And the better is best.
Section 3
Club Colors: Black, Old Rose, and Silver

Article II
Purpose
The purpose of this club shall be the mutual
improvement of the members in Christian
living. This can best be accomplished by
providing opportunities for social development
and service to God and our fellow man
Article III
Members
Section 1
The membership of this club shall be limited
according to the quota established by a
determining body of Harding University and
chosen by a two-thirds majority of the club.
Section 2
The length of pledging for membership shall be
determined according to the regulations of the
school and other procedures shall be determined
by club members.
Section 3
If a member must miss a club meeting due to
sickness or other necessary absence, the member
shall be responsible for notifying the President
or Secretary before the meeting.
If a member does not fulfill this responsibility,
the absence will he considered unexcused.
Three unexcused absences will be taken to the club,
presented, and then voted on as to whether or not
the person should remain a member of the club. The
club will consider the person's attitude, concern
for OEGE, how active the individual is, and the
number of times missed, including excused absences.
A two-thirds majority is to vote the girl out of the
club.
Article IV
Finances
Section 1
Club budget and dues shall be set by the officers and
voted on by the membership. Funds shall be paid to the
treasurer on or before a date set by the officers. If
dues cannot be paid due to a hardship, the member must
present the hardship to the officers and sponsors for
consideration of special circumstances.
If a member does not pay her dues by the date set by
the officers and does not have special permission of
the sponsors and officers, the member will not be allowed
to participate in any club activities.
Section 2
At the beginning of each semester, the treasurer shall
submit the budget before the club.
Section 3
At the beginning of each meeting, the treasurer shall
give a financial report to the club as outlined in the
duties of the Treasurer.
Article V
Officers
Section 1
The elected officers of this organization shall be
President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, two
Athletic Directors, and Devotional Director. The offices
of Historian, Activities Director and Sunshine Girl
shall be appointed by the President. Inter-Club Council
Representatives shall be the present Vice-President and
another member chosen by club; however, this position
shall not be considered as a club office.
Section 2
The President must be a student at Harding University and
a member of OEGE for two semesters. If the individual is a
junior transfer from another college, she must be a member
of OEGE for one semester prior to being elected.
Section 3
Other officers must be a student at Harding University and
a member of OEGE for one semester.
Section 4
Every office will be voted on each semester. In order to
elect a member into an office, the member must receive a
majority of the quorum's vote.
Each office will be limited to two successive terms;
however, if no other nominations are qualified, the
present officer may fill the position for a third term
with the sponsor's approval.
Each officer may be elected to a different office.
Those persons nominated for the President must have
previously held an OEGE club office.
No member can hold more than one office during one
term. All officers must meet the qualifications set
forth by the "Club Handbook" issued by Harding
University.
Section 5
If an officer is unable to fulfill her term, then a
new officer will be elected. If the case of President,
the Vice-President will serve as President until a
new President is elected. The Vice-President is
eligible to be elected as President.
Section 6
Upon election, the officers shall receive in writing
the duties and obligations of their club office. These
written duties and obligations shall be reviewed by
the officers and sponsors each semester.
Article VI
Beaux
Section 1
Beaux shall be selected in the following manner:
three beaux will be selected at the end of the spring
semester to serve in the next academic year. Club
members will nominate a list of potential beaux from
which the beaux will be selected. A majority vote will
be required for the selection.
Section 2
The number of beaux may be subject to change with the
consent of the sponsors.
Section 3
Beaux will serve a one year term. During this active
term, the club will pay for his admittance into
club activities.
Section 4
After completing his active term, a beau may become
an honorary beau. Honorary beaux, like active beaux,
are welcome at all club functions and meetings; however,
they must pay for their own expenses.
Article VII
Sponsors
Section 1
Sponsors shall be voted on by the club every spring
semester to serve in the next academic year.
Section 2
In the spring semester, the club shall nominate
potential club sponsors. These nominations shall
be submitted by the President to Student Affairs
for approval. The nominations will be submitted
before and voted on by the club. A majority vote
will be required for the selection. The present
sponsors are eligible to be elected for another term.
Section 3
Each of the selected sponsors will be expected to
follow the guidelines set forth by Harding University.
Section 4
The relationship between the club and the sponsors
will be regulated by the "Club Handbook" issued
by Harding University.
Article VIII
Meetings
Section 1
Regular meetings shall be held on the second, fourth,
and fifth Mondays of each month. Special meetings
may be called by the President or a sponsor.
Section 2
Two-thirds of the membership shall constitute a quorum
at any meeting of the organization.
Section 3
Officers shall meet for thirty minutes before each
meeting to discuss club activities and meeting agenda.
Article IX
Initiation
Section 1
At the conclusion of pledging activities, the procedure
of initiation shall be conducted as a formal candlelight
ceremony.

Club pledge with all pledges reciting,

regulations of the club and will
strive with earnestness to carry out
the club duties in a Godly and
efficient manner.
D.Mum presentation
"Pledges, these flowers hold a
symbolic meaning for all of us.
The blue represents faithfulness to
God, OEGE, and yourself

White is for modesty and purity.
A flower is for youth and happiness, thus,
the white mum with a blue bow is symbolic of
a happy and modest young girl who is faithful
to these characteristics.
Guard these virtues ever faithful;

Your care their sun and shade;

That will never fade.
As members of the OEGE Social Club,

F.Prayer
Article X
Distribution of Constitution
At the first meeting of the fall semester,
the Secretary shall issue completed copies
of the constitution to each member and
sponsors. New pledges will receive their copy
at the formal initiation. Each member shall be
responsible for knowing what the constitution
says and abiding by it.
Article XI
Amendments
Section 1
To amend any article or section of this constitution,
the amendment must he put in writing and read at one
meeting prior to voting.
Section 2
Two-thirds majority vote determines action of the motion.
