| Eumeaus left to go to town to inform Penelope of Telemachus' arrival. Then Athena revealed my true form to my son when we were left alone togther. For the first time in twenty years I looked my beloved baby boy in the eyes, the pride and joy of my life. I saw the one who I left in Penelope's arms long ago, now a grown man. Now that he has grown, I missed his whole boyhood. I was never there to comfort him when he needed a father, not a mother to talk to. He never had a father in his life growing up because of that senseless war. Had I never gone I would have never had to miss his life. When I first saw him he wouldn't believe it was me. He thought I was an imposter. When he finally realized I was not kidding, he collapsed into my arms in tears. I had hardly been able to hold my darling son before I was shipped off to Troy, now I was reunited with him at last. Then at this, I flew into tears. It was a very emotional event, now he had a father, and I had my son. As soon as we got our acts together, I told him about the plan and about Athena. He was ecstatic that we were going to get rid of the thieving suitors. By the time Eumeaus was back, the plan was intact and I was a beggar again. Eumaeaus fed us and then we went to sleep. |
