Part 5
Those beloved Phaeacians, wonderful, hospitable people they were. First Nauasicaa, daughter of the great King Alcinous, found me. She bathed me, clothed me, and gave me shelter. She said that she could not lead me to her father's palace, and so she left me on the outside of the city. I had no trouble finding the great palace, a young girl helped me on my way. The girl was suspicious, she took me through the heart of the city, yet no one acknowledged me, I did not even get a hello. She must have put some sort of spell over them. Anyway, when I finally found the magnificent palace, Alcinous welcomed me with an open heart. He told me to tell him my story, but before that we had a lot of fun. I was gloomy, so to cheer me up Alcinous arranged some games. His sons, and the sons of many other Island lords competed. I was challenge by an arrogant little man, so I joined in. I excelled in the events of the javelin, discus, and footrace.

After showing off my skills, I told my story, from the shores at Troy all the way to the arrival on the Phaeacian island. They organized a crew to take me home, as promised. The wonderful people also gave me precious gifts to take home with me. Then they had a feast to celebrate the fact that I would soon be home after twenty long years of hard labor.

The next morning they took me home. I slept like a baby on the trip. When I woke up I was in some strange land, I had thought that the Phaeacians had put me off in some random land far from home. All of a sudden a Shepard boy showed up. I asked him where I was and sure enough I had landed in my sweet homeland called Ithaca.

Then the beautiful goddess Athena came to me in person. She helped me devise a plan of how to kill the suitors, and win back my kingdom. She also helped me hide the treasures I obtained in the presence of the Phaeacians.

A while later I leaned of the fate that came upon the Phaeacians. On their voyage home Poseidon froze their ship in stone as a reminder of what they had done. Poseidon was still holding a grudge against me for blinding his son, the cyclops. He punished them for helping me
