| I left Troy a while ago. First I landed on Ismarus, the Cicones kingdom. I sacked the city and we dragged many riches from that place. I urged my crew to set sail, but did they listen? Of course not, the idiots! Eventually the Cicones called for help from neighboring kingdoms. They attacked us with a greater force then we could ever match. They took back all the riches we had plundered, and we barley escaped with our lives. Thank the gods the death toll only amounted to six, but it was six comrades never the less. Next we landed on the island of the Lotus Eaters. The Lotus Eaters gave my crew one taste of their delicious fruit, and they were hooked. They were so drugged, that I had to force them back to the boat. They were all in tears when I strapped them to their oars so that we could leave that horrible place. After that we landed on the isle of the Cyclops. On the island we found a cave. This cave belonged to the particular cyclops named Polyphemus. Me and my crew found that the cave was filled with racks of cheese, and stables full of goats. We decided to eat some cheese and then wait until the owner came back to ask for a gift. When the owner came back we found that he was a cyclops we were horrified. The cyclops saw us, and ate two men for his supper, and then he went to sleep. The next morning the monestrous beast woke up, and ate two men for his breakfast, and then he took his goats out to graze. When the cyclops returned, I had a plan, we got the cyclops drunk with some wine and then gouged out his eye. We escaped the cyclops by crawling under sheep. When I left I made the one mistake to reveal my identity to the beast. The cyclops asked his father, Poseidon, to curse me on my voyage home. Poseidon held a grudge for the rest of my voyage, and probably still hates me |
