Chief fire officer commends Search & Rescue team

The Search and Rescue team of St. Kitts and Nevis has been commended for the good work thus far since their inception. This came at the opening of a Land Search and Rescue Training workshop held at the NEMA conference room.

Chief Fire Officer Hester Rawlins commended the team for their work on the weekend in St. Kitts and a few weeks ago in Nevis. Rawlins also took the opportunity to appeal to the public to make sure they get the necessary information before going on expeditions in the hills. He also commended the team leader Abdias Samuel for his leadership of the Search and Rescue team. He told the participants of the Workshop that what they learn will assist them not only as Search and Rescue Officers but in their own personal development

Meanwhile four trainers from Florida will be sharing their knowledge with persons involved in Search and Rescue compliments of FAVACA, the Florida Association of Voluntary Agencies for Caribbean Action. Lieutenant Todd Livingston gave some background to his organization.

Meanwhile in declaring the workshop open National Security Minister, the Hon. Dwyer Astaphan urged the participants to absorb every bit of knowledge available in the workshop and to pass on the knowledge gained to fellow workers.

The ceremony was chaired by National Disaster Coordinator, Carl Herbert.
