CUBAN DISASTER EXPERTS VISIT NEVIS � Tuesday 28th Aug 2007

Two Cuban Specialists are visiting the Federation during the week of 25th August to 1st September 2007. Messrs. Eximidi Barrerio Manes (MSc. Eng) and Jorge Olivera Acosta (MSc Eng) from the Civil Defense Authority will focus on the following:
1. To have the necessary information for the diagnosis for the National system of Disaster Reduction. This will enable them to make the necessary recommendations for its improvement.
2. Based on the above, and on the experiences accrued by the Cuban Civil Defense System, analyze future ways for cooperation, which will be subject to the terms to be agreed upon between both Governments.
Agency representatives were invited to attend a meeting with the Cuban specialists, held at the Nevis Disaster Management Department offices at Long Point, Nevis on Tuesday 28th August. A presentation on the Cuban experience in Disaster Management was made to the representatives.The Cuban Experts will also be visiting Nevis again on Friday 31st August. It is expected that they will visit several potential trouble spots in Nevis in various parishes. |
