MCGOWANS DIGITAL PRINTERS. (1999-2000)
I began working in McGowan’s as a Pre-press Operator dealing
with primarily Auctioneering companies which
made up a large amount
of the company’s client base at
that time. While responsible
for my own clients including Insignia Ellis Gunne, Douglas
Newman Good and Lisneys I was also responsible for the scanning
and Photo retouching in the company helping to meet the high standards
expected
by such customers. Working with such companies has given
me experience
in dealing with clients who are less
familiar with the design and
printing process
and therefore require more attention.
KALL KWIK DIGITAL PRINTING. (2000-2001)
I moved to London in June 2000 and began working for
Kall Kwik Digital
Printing as a pre-press Operator where I gained a wide variety
of skills ranging from design to binding. My duties included outputting
files, design, dealing with customers, print finishing, binding,
laminating collating
and general tasks related to a busy city centre
printers.
KICKERS CLOTHING CO. (2000-2001)
While in London I moved to KICKERS Clothing Co.
where I worked as
an Artworker and Design assistant
to the Senior Graphic and Fashion
Designers in the design department. This position gave me a unique
opportunity to work in the fashion design industry assisting in
the design
and
presentation of a collection for the year 2000-2001. I was also
responsible for the company catalogue working in conjunction
with the company sales and advertising departments. This also gave
me an opportunity to
improve my skills in Adobe Illustrator which
was
the main program used for drawing garments
for the catalogue
and presentations. I was
also
part of a team dealing with the
company’sclients who included
River Island, Top Shop,
Debenhams
and JD Sports.

to local business. Being

machines from short run jobs on an INDIGO ULTRASTREAM, to runs
of up to 100,000 on a RYOBI DIGITAL OFFSET PRINTER and
large format
jobs on a XEIKON DIGITAL PRESS.

including The Irish Times, The Evening
Herald, The Irish Independent and the Daily Star. I was
responsible for these ads from conception to output. My duties included
image sourcing
and manipulation, copywriting, design concept and file preparation
and

full colour to mono and spot
colour and have given me the opportunity
to work on
a major client while providing me with a detailed
insight
into the workings
of a leading Irish advertising
agency. I also produced flyers, posters
and point
of sale on a regular basis as was required by
the Client.
